Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

WILLOW WIND RV RESORT in HURRICANE

We spent yesterday running around Hurricane.  We stopped at a Thrift Shop at the Senior Center where we found a few more books, especially for Gary.  Then we went to lunch there at the center for a $3 donation each.  Not bad, especially when the food was so good and plentiful.  I had to leave most of the rice, though ate the salad, fruit and chicken.  We forgot to take a picture of the center, but I am sure that we will go back. So can do it later.  We were amazed at the amount of space that they have and how well it is utilized.  They were on their last day of doing taxes in one room and you could see the Bingo room through another door.  They also had a stage with piano in this main hall, and a steam table for the food serving with kitchens behind.  Then along the side there were four cubicles for computer work.  You could take yours or use theirs.  I've not seen that before.

After a five mile trip out of town for Walmart, I took this picture coming back into Hurricane.  Not a big town, but the RV Resort is just off this main street a half block to the right and there are two banks and almost every fast food that you could want and we found a Baptist church.  We found a JB's for breakfast this morning which was good.
Heading east.

Mountains to the north.
More of these to share in the next blog.

The evening before, we walked to the corner Walgreen for a newspaper for Gary.  It was a good warm walk, but windy.  I took these pictures on our way back home.
Hang on to your hat!!

Home!!

Today we went to Zion National Park to take the shuttle ride through it.  I will do the next blog with some pictures from that.  But we will be going back, probably several times so that we can take pictures from each stop without looking through the windows on the shuttle and Gary wants to take a hike!!.  They\ pictures will be so much better.  It was still windy and colder today. We dressed warmer, but still not warm enough.
Take care and check back in tomorrow.
