Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

JUST THRIFT SHOPS AND ANTIQUE MALLS

I am planning another evening out for the Salem Branch former employees , Thursday, September 26th, at Mike's Penn Grille in Salem. Please call, text, email or comment at this Blog site if you would like to attend.  We will need a head count for the evening!!!

We have not been doing very much since returning from MN and IN.  Just a little touring the Antique and Thrift Shops.  We enjoy doing that, but about all we have to show for it is tired Feet!!  We have added a few things to our stash of Christmas Presents, but have very little space to collect for ourselves.
I was not shopping for this, but decided that the dining room at our condo needed it!!  Later I saw a round table that would have gone well with this, but passed it up - - -.

I really went looking for a barrister's bookcase,
but did not like the price for now.
I do need a china cupboard, but
I had to pass up this one because of the price!!!

We actually went out this August 29th to take some of Gary's art pieces to show in a gallery in Newberry, Ohio.  But on the way back to the motorhome, we stopped in the Antique's Mall at Parkman, Ohio and found a yard sale on the way also.
Guess what!!  I found something that I could afford and it fit the bill for my good china!  I will have to wait until next year to put it to use though.  The man at the yard sale said that it had been purchased in Berlin, Ohio a few years back.  But his price was much more to my liking and a better fit to my pocket book.  Sure better than the $2900. above!!  It is also a better fit to the wall space in the condo!!

But I had to store it in the condo kitchen
as Victor has the dining room full.

From that day on it was stay-at-home time because Gary was not feeling well and ended up on an antibiotic. So that took care of our Labor Day weekend.  Just lounged at the motorhome.

Then Gary went to his First Tuesday evening with the guys from Bliss, and I went to Home Savings Retirees luncheon at Canfield Catering.  By then it was good to get out again.

Today, September 5th, we went to Warren to check out a couple thrift shops and that is where we got most of our bargains for Christmas. I also took a picture of this canning jar, decorated.
Tina and Debbie, I thought you would like
this idea!!
On the way back we stopped at the Hot Dog shop for lunch and at a scroungy church basement sale, and Gary also remembered that I wanted to take a picture of this house.  We had passed it many times, but never had the camera ready, until today.

Gary has plans for tomorrow with Rick. While they are out I will do laundry a the condo and I will scrub out the hutch.
So check back and see what we think of next in addition to the doctor appointments.

We have heard from friends in Florida that their worries in the Bahamas have weathered pretty well.  No one hurt!!  PTL.
And our friends in South Carolina have let us know that they are ready for whatever hits them. We will be praying!!  Love to all!!
