Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

GARDEN OF THE GODS in COLORADO with FRIEND/GUIDE, REKHA

Tuesday, July 14th was a wonderful day of visiting and sight seeing!!
Leaving our campground we were on the way to Colorado Springs to visit with Rekha, Audrey's former co-worker from Home Savings and her husband, Andrew and daughter, Asha.
The lower part of the resort is very woodsy
compared to our dusty street.
But we are flatter.
After meeting Andrew and spending some wonderful time getting acquainted, we left him at home in peace to read for his college class of the day.  He is working on his Master's Degree in counseling. He is a Kindergarten teacher, same as Rekha.  They found it much easier to find jobs in Colorado than in Ohio.  Must be a shortage of teachers and it sounded like they had a good personal time off plan. Rekha will soon return to work after being home with little Asha.
We talked of everything from jobs, people who we knew in common, religions and churches, education, sights to see and restaurants of the area. Think we covered it all very well for as little time as we had.

We decided that we would go to Bon Ton's Cafe for lunch and then Rekha drove us through the Gardens of the Gods.  The Gardens was like a spill-over from Utah on the west side of the Rocky Mountains.  But we were on the east side of the Rockies here in Colorado Springs..
I started taking pictures as soon as we hit the streets.  I sat in the front with the camera and Gary kept Asha company in the backseat.

Just like us big people, always feeding our faces.

Waiting on the waitress at Bon Ton's

We were very pleased with the food and would go back anytime in the area!!  On to Garden of the Gods. Enjoy the pictures!!

The path you see in this picture used to be
a Cog Railroad. The rail is still there but
people use it for a hiking trail.  Rekha has hiked it,
but does not think that she would do it again.  It was a challenge!!

The Fowlers
When we got back to their home, Asha was ready for her nap, and Gary and Andrew found they had a common interest in Antique and Classic cars.  So they had to share some more before we hit the road and Andrew got to leave for school. We also had to get the "family" photo!
Thank you so much for seeing us and sharing your wonderful countryside with us.  We hope that we can do it again some day!!  Rekha, I did not respond when you said that Pete said "Hello" from he and Mandy.  Be sure to tell him that we said likewise and we will see them in October for three months, as our plans are now. Take care and God Bless.
