Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

TOMBSTONE and BISBEE ARIZONA

Judy, we did get better seats at the concert on Thursday.
Liberty Ministries Quartet
The fellow who got out of the car next to us insisted that we sit with them - - - in the front pew!! The concert was just as good, but not as many jokes. They did do a few different songs because they have done a concert at this church once a year for the past fourteen years.  So if we get back to AZ again we will look for them.
Before leaving on Saturday we went to our park's breakfast and sat with his genealogy instructor for one last visit. We needed to wait until the cars cleared out after the breakfast to have room to pull into the middle of the street to hook our tow vehicle.

We needed to wait to leave because of all the cars parked in the main road in front of our RV.
We will miss you now that you are no longer where we are. But we look forward to seeing you again, somewhere!  The pictures that Tim sent to Gary were awesome!!  Your camera does an awesome job!!  We did not get to Sedona this winter so missed the red rock colors there!!
Other friends of ours from Ohio, Bob and Donna contacted us after you left to meet them on the Thursday in Apache Junction after we were scheduled to leave. So sorry to miss them this time, but will look for them again.  They are the footloose, fancy free travelers. So they do not understand us who always have reservations where we are going.
We are looking forward to spending a month near Gary's cousin in Las Cruces NM. Not sure what the schedule will be after that except to hit MN, WI, MI and IN in the summer before returning to OH.
After setting up here in Huachucua AZ, we spent yesterday trying to get into Caverns at a State Park. But they did not have openings in their schedules so that will have to wait for another trip through here. So we sent on to Tombstone and walked around and then on to Bisbee yesterday, March 12th.

Birdcage Theatre & Saloon

We stopped in an Art Gallery and checked out the paintings, photographs, quilts etc.
The quilts were priced at $800 to $2200. I should have signed up for the one for a drawing. But then I never win anything!! They were awesome quilts!!

Going on to Bisbee AZ the drive was much more interesting!
Mule Pass Tunnel

You can tell that it is mining area with the housing sitting on the hillsides.  We walked the streets looking over the artsy stuff. We sure knew that we had walked!! First things to check out were the mining trains - - -

Then we started through the Antique Shops. Don, we knew that you would enjoy seeing this theatre steamer trunk. Gary took a picture of their picture of the inside with all of it's drawers.
On to other restored buildings housing restaurants including Bisbee Coffee Cafe'.
Hotels and Inns everywhere!!

Many Inns in this town, even mine!

I would love to know what these trees are..
They are very appealing in this desolate area.

Leaving town we noticed the men on top of the hillside.

Zoom lens helps.
Tomorrow we are scheduled for a copper mine tour since we could not get any tour for the caverns. So stay tuned and check out those pictures after we go back to Bisbee AZ.
