Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

VISITS WITH FRIENDS and FAMILY and trip to WALTON'S in ARKANSAS

Saturday, August 1st, a new month!!
We drove into Arkansas to meet up with Pam and Eddie who we had first met at Mesa Regal Park in Arizona when we all wintered there 2011-12. It was great to see them again and to catch up on news and workamping experiences.  We met them for lunch at EL Pueblito and we all left quite full.
They also suggested that we drive on down the road to Bentonville AR where Sam Walton got his start.
On our way to meet Pam and Eddie we stopped at a Walmart that was very, very busy and I swear it to be the largest that we have ever been in.  We got our few things needed and moved on for lunch.

Bentonville was another beautiful town with a lovely town square!

Sam Walton at age 13, Missouri's
youngest Eagle Scout in 1932.
He is seen here with a fellow scout
whom he saved from drowning using his
scout training.
The entire Walton family was a very
hard working family.  Sam and his brother
got their start in Ben Franklin stores and
others are very involved in ARVEST  Bsnk

Sam Walton's truck caught Gary's eye!

Before our trip through the museum, we wandered through the 5 and 10 replica of years gone by.  We had expected to see a 5 and 10 as we had been through in Branson last year, but this was much smaller.  We left with Gary's favorite moon pies and a few pieces of candy.  We were tempted to buy a Dick and Jane reader for our friends Dick and Jane back home, but refrained this time.
After the trip through the museum we stopped in their ice cream shop for our favorite butter pecan.

Polly, I thought of you when I saw this sign.

Karen you have a lovely family, those we have met so far.  Maybe we will catch everyone the next time we are through.  Hope so!!  Take care and keep in touch.
