Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

DISCOVERY MUSEUM and NATURAL WILDLIFE MUSEUM in LITTLE ROCKAndrew

Today was a very interesting day, but tiring for us old grandparents! We are hoping for another day with the kids though, before we move on.

Olivia and mom built a car.

Gary is forecasting the weather!!
Right on!!  We sure feel it.

There were so many other things to do, including studying the human body and all of it's systems, lying on a bed of nails, testing wind tunnels, etc. etc.  We spent probably about three hours there, then went for lunch at The Market Place where there were many food vendors to choose from.

After lunch we decided to go out the back door and check out the boardwalk along the Arkansas River.
Out door ampi-theater.
Will have to see if there is a show soon.

On to the Natural Wildlife Museum.  There were stufffed animals, live fish, turtles and more.  A movie showing the Arkansas natural life, tons of sports equipment to mention only a few things.

This Snowy owl is not native to Arkansas
but was found in the area.
The birdwatchers were notified and
many people got to observe.
Then to everyone's disappointment it was
found after someone hit it with an auto.
They had it mounted by a local taxidermist
and it can still be enjoyed!
After this museum, we parted ways with hopes of plans to do more this week.  It was fun.  Our days of these types of museum has not been recent!!  But it was very enjoyable.

Back at home along the opposite side of the river, we are enjoying our views both at night and day.
This tugboat was was pushing a load that appeared to
be a quarter of a mile long!!  We have never see one
this long on the Arkansas or the Mississippi before.
Too bad we were not on the Clinton Bridge for
this picture, to see the entire thing at once.

The Clinton walk bridge.  It is lit all night!!

View of Highway 30 and 65 crossing the Arkansas.
The trolley that we rode to tour the city on our
last trip through Little Rock is crossing also.
There is another tug boat under there!!
We came home and kicked up our feet until time to fix dinner.  I am using up many groceries as we are traveling so there won't be too much in here when we put the motorhome in storage this fall.  We had Tuna Noodle casserole today with enough left overs for another day.  Haven't made one of those in years!
Have a great day!!
