Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

WINDSOR VA and MYRTLE BEACH SC

We stopped in Windsor VA again to see a "young" friend we made when we were there in May 2010.  It was so good to see her and hear her sing at church.  Margaret, as I told you, just think of it being perfect when it reaches the Lord's ears!!

It was wonderful dinner company and so good to continue the visit in your home!!  It is good to see that you have such wonderful hobbies.  Keep up with them as they will keep you young.  Just love the way everyone, young and old, enjoy the Candy Lady's bag of goodies!!  I think that Gary has finished off the cow's tails!
This fellow wouldn't happen to belong to you?  We saw him on the way out to the highway from your house.  I thought he was cute!!

Our first day in South Carolina was a nice walk on Cherry Grove Beach and a stop at Walmart to stock up on groceries.  It was long overdue.  The weather was just perfect!!  Not many people there, a sure sign that kids are back in school.

After we moved on to Myrtle Beach we took a luncheon cruise for our 48th anniversary on the 24th.  It was fun and such a lovely day!!  A little rocky when walking around on ship.  We wondered if it was a sign that "Sandy" was coming north from the Bahamas.

Amazing that you can talk with family wherever you are, on land, in the air or at sea.
I got a kick seeing this little lady eating by herself, thinking that she was on the cruise by herself.  But someone joined her later, maybe a son.  I hope that when I get to be that age I will still be brave enough to go anywhere!!  That is not too far down the road either.

Enjoy the scenery as we did.  Not much traffic on the water though.

We would have enjoyed a ride on this boat also!!

The next day we went to Myrtle Beach and walked on the beach again.  The water was showing a little more activity, maybe a little stronger winds.  Where we parked, Gary found a neat "toy".  Only in your dreams, Gary!!

Now this I could do all day!!!!  But we did not bring our chairs along!!

We still wanted sea food, especially crab legs, so we decided to go out to eat again.  We went to Benjamin's Seafood Buffet.  Oh, so much to choose from and we tried most of it.

To say the least, we had enough seafood to last us for a while!!  We figured we should enjoy it while along the coast.  Now it is time to set the eating aside!!
On Friday we will be moving inland, just southwest of Columbia SC.  Not sure what we will do about the workamping job that we are supposed to do.  We will stop by that park and check it out to see if we want tied down to it for a month.  Oh, such big decisions to be made.
Take care now and stop back.
