Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

OHIO FUN, FRIENDS AND RELATIVES WITH FOOD, FOOD, FOOD!!

Gary's Class of 1963 has been having a luncheon at Salem Hills once a month for the summer, or maybe longer.  It was pleasant to join them.  Gary has been fortunate enough to do so twice this season, but I only got there once.  I think that I had as much contact with his class members as my own class.  So it is always fun to visit.

It is so nice, Elaine, that you keep it all together!!  We appreciate the updated class list.  We will have to keep checking it to see if we travel through areas where any of the class members now live.  It would be fun to make contact with them.  Our life style has been so much fun meeting up with old friends as well as making new friends.  We are going east and south soon and plan to visit with people we met in 2008.  We have kept in contact with them for four years now!!

Audrey spent a wonderful time visiting with former co-workers and having lunch.  I think that Mike was honored to be surrounded by so many beautiful women, right??  Of course, his wife was there to keep track of things.  We sure enjoyed many humorous stories and look forward to the next time!!  Another of the girls will be leaving the company and moving to Tennessee.  Maybe we can meet up with her there on our way through sometime.  There is only one of the employees still in the office where I worked, and she says that she still has many years to go.  I sure do not envy her.  It is not the same when I stop in there to visit.  So many changes in just four years!!

We also got to go with friends, Ray and Linda, to dine in an Amish friend's home near Burton.  It is always so much fun and such delicious food.  Not that we need all of the food!!  We sure have been putting our weight back on.  Unfortunate that our pass time is eating!!  We will have to do something about that!!  I also had a cousin and his wife and my sister meet us there also.  I think that my sister is sold on going back!!  We won't get back there until next summer since it takes so long to get reservations with Mrs. Miller.  But we sure will be looking forward to it!!

Another cousin, Larry and his wife Betty, were not able to keep that Amish dinner appointment with us.  So we made another date and went to their home for a visit and dinner.  Betty, you always do such a delicious dinner!!  It was amazing to realize that it has been nine years since we were at your home when it was under construction.  It is lovely and the lawn is awesome!!  It almost makes me want another place of our own.  You notice I said, almost!!  We really do not want that kind of work again.  Thanks again for the invite and we look forward to next summer when we might get together again.  Take care and love to you both.  It was fun to catch up on the family ties, which are diminishing, as well.

Speaking of work - - - we are getting into the fun of the two weekends of Halloween celebration here in the park.  It was not what we expected in the way of work.  Not difficult of course, but it sure can comsume more time than we want to put in.  Just give us our old jobs in Oregon and Arizona where we each worked ten to twelve hours a week for our rent and electric.  That gives us more money to waste on gas!!  We are soon to be heading to South Carolina where we will work for a month at a State Park there.  We wonder how many hours they will expect.

So much for all of our running around.  We also got in a trip to a couple casinos to relax (and eat again)and two football games where our grandson played in the band.  So we have kept busy!!  Check in again with us and maybe I will get another update done before we leave mid month.
