Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

FINALLY LEAVING OHIO FOR SOME NEW TERRITORY!

We left Salem on the 16th feeling like newbies as it had been so long since we were on the road.  Enjoying the fall foliage as we left West Branch State Park,

we moved on into PA.   While driving through southern PA, we found the fall colors even more beautiful!!

Maybe the hills have something to do with it, or were temperatures still a little warmer??

Before leaving Ohio we went to breakfast with Gary's friend, Rick, at Mike's Restaurant in Kent.

Our last weekend at the Park was one of their Halloween celebration weekends.  They always have a full park and plenty of fun.  One of the highlights is the decorating contest of each camper at their site.  Gary worked with the pumpkin decorators and helped with judging while I worked the concession stand for breakfast doughnuts and lunch hot dogs and sloppy jos.

We stopped our first night in Walmart at Hagerstown, MD, where we found other travelers???
Traveling can be colorful in many different ways!!

Traffic became more hairy at times the closer we came to DC, but Gary just stayed put in the right lane most of the time!!  We were glad when we passed that and moved on into eastern Maryland.

Arriving at College Park, Maryland, we pulled into Cherry Hill Park where we will spend two days, taking the bus into Washington DC for sight seeing.  We were looking forward to the new experiences.

It is nice to see that the buses will be picking us up right at the park.  We will not have to disconnect the dolly or car for our stay here.  Stay with us and we will show you a little of the sights in DC.
