Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

A WALK IN THE PARK - Mt Hood Village Park in Welches, OREGON

We got up this morning deciding it was time to get outside after three days of staying in, except to work, because of the Oregon spring rains. Last Tuesday was our one day of sunshine in over a week of time. So we decided that we would dodge the rain if it should begin again while we were out. Since we have not been out sight seeing, we will take you for a walk in the Park! I will say that it is making everything green and the flowers and bushes are blooming! These next pictures are areas of the park that have not had any inhabitants since we arrived. Most inhabited sites have generally been right around our motorhome, those who are here to work. We saw a dining canopy that had two drop sides for wind, if they would be needed. Otherwise, it was triple the shade! We need to look into that for AZ and back home!
We also checked into the activity buildings as well as the entrance, to see if there were a lot to be checked in yet. But it looked like everyone was here that is planning to be here. I did have several cancellations that I had to process at work Thursday evening. But most took heart and expect a break in the rain as they are forecasting for Sunday. We hope they are right!! The Hot Tub
The two Fitness Rooms.
Indoor Swimming!
Looks like Gary is looking for someone?
Playground with mountain view, behind the park. There is a lot of cloud cover and mist.
Games in the Fireside Room.
There was also a party room set up and decorated, as well as large tents for outside activities on busy weekends.
This is the store where I work selling, making reservations and checking people in two days a week.
The check-in gate right outside of the store.
These are the cottages that they sell. Anyone owning one in the park can rent theirs out if they like.
An Owner occupied cottage in the park.
The Cafe' with balcony dining for busy times.
No grandchildren, just take your cats for a stroll !
Returning home we noticed that the roads are drying off, but that did not last as the rain started hard again for about ten minutes as soon as we got inside!
