Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

NEW HOME FOR A MONTH IN SILVER SPRINGS, FLORIDA

Arrived at Wilderness RV Park at Silver Springs, Florida just northeast of Ocala on March 1st.
We were drawn to this park by a couple we met last spring in Northeast Ohio.
Yesterday we went with Ralph and Gail to
China Lee Buffet for an early dinner.
Bingo was later in the evening so the lower price
for mid afternoon was great for us.
Ralph and Gail are activity directors for this park.  Like most other RV parks, there are plenty of activities going on. Like last night's Bingo and this coming Saturday's Craft and Indoor Yard Sale.

What we like here are the blacktop streets which is conducive to safe walking and less dust in the RV. However, at this time of the year pollen is an issue!!
Of course, our first attraction in this park is that there are many lots that are privately owned.  Thus we are able to compare prices and attractions to the SKP park that we just left where we are #1 on the waiting list.  We are encouraged to know that we are definitely pleased that we are getting into the better park by our measurements of interests and for their prices!!  Evidently no lot has become available at SKP yet, so we keep our fingers crossed!
This home is across the street from the front of our motorhome here at Wilderness Resort in Silver Springs.  We love getting ideas for our future winter home!!

This view is of the front of their unit taken
from the other street.  The gentleman there
told Gary that it took them four years to
attain the completion of this landscaping,
but they just changed from their motorhome
to this cottage unit.

These are some other sites that I saw when out walking yesterday morning. Ideas, ideas!!

Our second evening here in the park they were having a dinner/dance.  It was enjoyable and we met a few of Ralph and Gail's friends.
Gail working in the kitchen.
Gary watching and listening to Chris Diamond.

Others at our table.

Dancing the Train.

Tonight is another dinner, covered dish.  Like I said we sure like to eat whether we should or not!!  Oh!!  What will we hear when we go for our doctor check-ups in Ohio?

I also found a scrapbooking location up the road for this coming Saturday.  She has it once a month at the county community center and she is a Creative Memories Consultant.  Not that I need to buy anything!!  But I will love the table space for working on our step-granddaughters wedding album.  I would like to have it finished before we arrive in Ohio.  We'll see!!  I will be able to scrapbook with a friend in South Carolina also, on the way north.
I hear that Ohio is getting more Snow!!  Hope that it is all melted real soon and that it warms up a lot by May!!  See you all then!!
