Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

SNOW BASIN in UTAH without SNOW!

Wednesday, June 17th, we took a drive into the mountains, over 8000 feet elevation.
We drove up to Snow Basin.  Even without the snow it was beautiful scenery on the way!
LDS churches everywhere!

Leaving Layton area, driving
along Ogden River.

Nearing Huntsville,
farming country.

Ski country will be coming soon.

Cache National Forest

Huntsville was a cute little historic town--

But it had a modern day LDS church, and they all look pretty much alike.  They are everywhere, and more so in heavily populated areas.

On to the ski lodge, which was not open during the week since it is off season. Not like Mt. Hood in Oregon which had snow and skiers every day of the year! Had we gone on a weekend evening, we could have had dinner there and listened to some music shows.

Gondola.

Back home to Circle L RV park in Layton UT
Trains run just outside the back of the park, all day and night. Jets fly over often because we are near Hill AFB.  No lack of sounds, but we do sleep good.

Note the local red, white & blue local Amtrack train
beyond the RV's looking from our front windshield.
Freight trains go through also.
Not sure what we will do today.  Gary got the Honda oil changed this morning and picked up mail at the post office.  He is also thinking about going south to Salt Lake City to do some family research. Check back and find out what we decided.
Gary has also been busy trying to get reservations for our trip east and south.  Nothing available near Denver!!  Not sure what we will do there.
