Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

SHOPPING IN ST GEORGE AND CASINO RUN

We went in to St. George on Monday hoping that would be less traffic than Saturday.   I had been scrapbooking for hours, both on Friday and Saturday, so needed more pages for the albums.  I want a new album also but want to look at Hobby Lobby for that, and the only locations for them is Salt Lake City.  So will wait.
We stopped for breakfast at IHOP and then stopped at Michael's before going on through the corner of Arizona to just over the line into Nevada.  Gary had been looking forward to going to a casino, so went to Casa Blanca for a couple hours.  We came our ten dollars poorer, so guess that is not bad for a little fun.  They had nice comfortable chairs near the hotel registration so that I could read while waiting for him to finish.

All of this at the entrance to the casino!  Momma and Poppa were very watchful!!
The drive going south was just as beautiful as the drive north about three weeks ago.  There was no sun, so not quite as pretty in colors as it could have been.  The construction area was still there but much easier to drive through in the car than it was in the motorhome.  At least Gary thought so.

The canyons were awesome, but difficult to photograph.
We were past them too quickly.

We were fortunate that there were not winds
this day!

Construction area.

Virgin River valley.
Again, by it too quickly!
On our stops in St. George, we forgot that I wanted to stop at the mall for JCP.  So we did that on the way back, but it was a very small store and did not find the polo shirts that I wanted.  So will check around Salt Lake City.
We came home and were glad to be out of the end of day work traffic.  Leftovers sounded good, and now the fridge looks better.  JB's had a very good chopped steak on Sunday, so I took half of everything home.  They even did broccoli for me since I did not want the corn (veggie of the day).  I thought that was nice of them.  We have never been disappointed with their meat choices. They must have a good chef!
I believe that I will get busy on scrapbooking for a few hours again today.  I also started a good book last evening.  Gary left and went to meet up with the guys from church at JB's for breakfast this morning.  He is not back yet so they must have found plenty to talk about!
Take care now and check back in a few days.
