Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

HOME IN RICHFIELD UTAH FOR A FEW WEEKS

Just thought I'd let you all know that we got settled.  We have been driving all about town looking for a Senior Center, but have not found one yet.  Nice little town though, with awesome vies of mountains on all sides!

Awesome views while driving up I-15 from Hurricane also.  We left 2700 feet elevation in Hurricane, then experienced 7180 feet on our journey.  Now we are home at 5280 feet here at the KOA in Richfield UT.  It is a little cooler, but we can handle that.  They are also forecasting five days of rain.  I hope that is at higher elevation!!
When out and about town, I stopped and got a few flowers to put in a pot outside of the motorhome. I have to have some summer color.  We just have to put the flower pots in the shower when we travel to protect them. Not sure if we will take them to Ohio later, or just enjoy them for the next five months.

On our journey we could also see the three mountains off to the east which are all over 11,000 feet elevation.  Guess that would be the reason for the snow!!

Lovely terrain on the journey!!

Coming into Richfield yesterday, where the KOA is first of our stops.  I will do a few pictures here in the park, but have to admit that it is not like the lovely one that we just left!!

Think that we might have a nice neighbor couple, but they left this morning for a visit to family in Arizona.  So will get acquainted when they return. We met a lovely couple near us in Hurricane and Gary had coffee most every morning with him and a few other gentlemen.  I did not get to meet them until just four days before we left.  I have to admit a lesson learned there!!  Don't be a procrastinator.

Meet Bob and Ann from New Hampshire!!

We did have lunch with our friends Rolland and Thelma at the Senior Center the day before leaving Hurricane.  We swapped addresses and told them that we will stop to see them when we come through here again.  They are not computer people, so will not have much contact with them until we visit.
We have been looking for a location for source of sights to see, but have not found it yet.  Gary will check the computer in the morning.
Take care and come back again!
