Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

QUEEN CREEK OLIVE MILL south of MESA

The day after our return from Yuma you would have thought we would have had enough running. but not, so we went to see what an Olive Mill looks like.  It was a great experience and we learned more than we even thought we would know about olive oil.  We will never buy anything except virgin oil with what we learned there!

Olive trees.
The olives grow all along
the branches.

Our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable!
But Bill and Gary stumped her with their questions.

Bill, Gary and Esther

After the hour tour, we went back into the store and ordered lunch.  It was so delicious that I want to go back there for lunch another day!

The processing plant can be seen through the
windows behind us.

Back home and our usual Wednesday scrapbooking was cancelled, so Esther and I went to Scrapbook Barn and worked on our pages there.  Of course, we found things to spend our money on!
Thursday we were back to our usual scrapbooking in the park and Gary was working on the outside of the motorhome, cleaning and waxing.  Friday was his busy day with wood carving in the morning and colored pencil in the afternoon.  He finished just in time to pick up Bill and Esther with our Ohio friend Jan, who just flew in that day, to go to Organ Stop Pizza for music and pizza.

Since Bill and Esther had been up since 4am for their workamping jobs in a bakery here and Jan had been up since 3am Ohio time, they were ready to call it a day!  Jan is a good friend of Esther's and they love the horses. Jan often joins them in Florida also when they winter there.  And she works at Lincoln Machine in Salem, where Gary worked at one time also.
Gary is at Maricopa Library today for a four hour genealogy seminar while I am catching up on the Blogs.  Nothing more planned for the weekend unless us girls get together to play cards.  Gary and I have a four day trip coming up next weekend to go to Las Cruses NM again to visit with his cousin, Mildred.  Our stay here in Mesa is short lived now.  We will pull out at the end of the month.  Then new ventures ahead.
Take care and stay tuned.
