Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

WELCOME 2015

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

We sure had our share of eating and fellowship, the fellowship being the bestest!  Especially when you can not be with family.

Gary, Bill and Esther. Dinner is almost ready.

Our two foot tree.
Wish it were three feet,
but this is easier take apart
to store.

Outside of the motorhome, and our tree in window
by door under awning.
We had Christmas ham dinner in our motorhome with Esther and Bill from Salem Ohio, while their family used their house back in Salem for their family get-to-gether and our family met for breakfast at our son, Richard's.  We missed you guys, and hate to say it but we were not warmer!!  I'll bet you are laughing!!
We sure have had cold winter for here.  We were used to nights cold and days pretty warm.  NOT!! Hopefully, the days will warm up into the seventies this next week.  We look forward to it.  It would have been nicer to sit outside, but could not.
We drove out to Apache Junction a couple time to the Elks.  Bill liked the football on screen and we all played bingo.  The Superstition Mountains out there are awesome!!

New Years Eve we met up with Bill and Esther and Esther's sister, Marsha and niece, Shelby who came in from California for a visit.  Stopped to eat pizza again at Organ Stop.  They were in awe of the organ music.  I was wishing that I new some names of songs for requests.  I will have to make a list to carry in my purse.

New Years Day we invited Bill and Jane our other Salem Ohio friends over for ham and bean soup for dinner.  I added kielbasa and kraut for sandwiches to make it seem more like New Years.  Jane brought a great salad that I will have to copy, some to change our diet.  And her apple pie was great.  Sure don't need too much of that!!

Gary talking on the phone as usual, and Bill watching
Jane and I playing cards.

Had a great day, but dark came on sooner that we wanted to see!!  They did have their truck to go home in, instead of riding their bikes.  We hate to admit that it is too cold to walk or bicycle!!
Gary did get outside to take a couple pictures at dusk and after dark.
Lights have come on but not dark out yet.

Maybe 6 pm!!
You can see our tree in the window by the door.

Neighbor's lights.
We will hate to see it all get put away,
but maybe it will begin to stay light later??

Yesterday, the 2nd, we woke to frost, big time.  And the television was showing snow in the mountains all day long, not far from here!!

Superstition mountains in the distance as seen from Main Street
in front of Mesa Regal Resort.
You can just barely see the snow.

Gary tried to write Mesa on the windshield,
but think that it was too cold!!
We are looking forward to the seventies coming back.  Our activities will come back and keep us very busy also.  I had more pictures printed of friends from our travels for my scrapbooking work. And Gary will add colored pencil group this week to what he was already doing.  His genealogy keeps him quite busy on the computer.  He is anxious for the LDS Library to open back up after their remodeling for more work space.
We are looking forward to a new year with some new travels and no health problems.  We wish you the best of health for 2015, as well.
Take care and God Bless.
