Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

PINNACLE MOUNTAIN and the USS RAZORBACK SUBMARINE in ARKANSAS

The 4th was great and quite enjoyable.  Andrew and Kelli, thank you for sharing it with us!! Holiday over, now Saturday we will go out on our own again.
Saturday breakfast as usual at Waffle House, which has been our practice for about three weeks.  Then we drove on to Pinnacle Mountain where there are many hiking trails.  We drove up to a visitor's  and nature center to begin.

We walked out onto a deck for a look at the valley below.  Awesome!!

Aren't cameras amazing?  Just zoom in for a closer look!

From the Center, we hiked up one of the trails.  Since we are not used to a lot of exercise, we wimped out before we neared it's end and headed back.  But good exercise, non the less.

Quarry on the trail.

Enough for today.  However later, Andrew called and wanted to know what we wanted to explore and if he could help us find anything.  So we told him we had done our exploring for that day, but we would meet them the next day for church and Olive Garden after.  And Gary plans to go see a submarine near our RV park.  They were anxious to share their church service with us and especially to go to Olive Garden!!

It looks like we have a problem with the lense on the camera.  How aggravating!!  Sure hate to think about buying a third camera in just six years!!
Lovely pipe organ!!

at Olive Garden.
After great food and fellowship, we all went home.

Gary used his free time to go on to the USS Razorback submarine and museum, just down the street from our RV Park.   The submarine was named for the razorback whale.
While Gary was gone I worked on pictures and read.

This submarine was manufactured here in the United States and used during WWII, Korean, and Vietnam wars.  Then it was leased to Turkey for the next thirty years.  It was returned to the US and the US Navy was going to scrap it.  A group of concerned Navy Veterans who had served aboard the Razorback, raised the money to save it and turn it into a museum.

Just three more days left before moving on.  So we spent Monday and Tuesday checking out more museums and driving about Little Rock.
