Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

MORE OF TIMASHAMIE, FRIENDS and FAMILY

The weekend after we arrived Timashamie had their Annual Cardboard Boat Race.
Our grandson had not come to visit yet, so he was sorry to have missed it!
However since then, he has spent four days with us. He was swimming most of the time and we were glad that we were located right next to the pool. Makes it easier for Grandma and Pa to keep track of him. But he got bored when not in the pool. Our TVs are not compatible with his games, so he had four days of withdrawal.
We are going to visit friends tonight, and they have so kindly offered a 24 inch bike for him to use. He will be glad for that when he comes back out to the camp ground.
Yesterday we came back from a few days in Mentor visiting with my sister and brother. We went to church there also to say "Hello" to all of my cousins! I have a lot in that area.
It was our first time to see my sister's new condo. (And I forgot to take pictures outside!) However, the inside is nice and Gary and I were nodding "yes" we could live in one of these some day! But we are not ready yet!!
While my sister and I visited and worked on the computer, Gary did some of his pencil drawing in the dining area and his computer "work" and TV '"usual" in the living room. While we girls spent a day shopping, he went to shop with and visit my brother. He helped him put together a large book case also.
He is in a large Retirement community and seems to like it well. It is good for him because of the housekeeping set-up and three square meals a day! He is doing so much better than he was a year ago last spring!! What a change. He even has a car and is driving himself every where he wants. Sunday after church we stopped at Wendy's with my sister's grand daughter and her friend.
We were to meet my brother also, but he got his P's and Q's mixed and waited at Arby's. We couldn't imagine where he was and did not find out until later when he got home!! Uh-Oh!!
We can't get him to use a cell phone so there was no way to check on him until he was back home. Next time we will have to be more specific!
Yesterday after returning to our little home in the country, we decided to check at a couple lumber companies here locally to see is we could find the cabinet that we want in our dining area for a desk that we want to build. After being disappointed with that, we decided to race the rain clouds home. However, on the way we spotted a familiar home near Canfield and decided to stop and say "Hello" to old friends, Eb and Ruth. Ruth had graduated with my sister and we all rode the same school bus as kids. So-o-o-o many years ago! They are doing well and Gary checked out the chickens and turkeys that are being raised there to show at the Canfield Fair. Ruth took a break and sat under the tree to chat for a bit. It was so good to see them.
She has had landscaping done since I was at there home last.
The flowers and patio are beautiful and again makes me miss my flower garden! But not the work! They have enjoyed it very much and are so glad that they had it done! We did beat the rain home, or maybe I should say that we drove home between showers.
Today Gary went early to Lowe's to see what they had in the way of cabinets and finally decided that he will get an assemble yourself unit to save money. He also found a pattern for the desk top that will match our kitchen counter top! So we are happy! He also picked up the lumber to build storage in our bedroom. I think that it is going to blend in well enough that one would think that it was made that way in the beginning! So he has been working himself hard all afternoon. He just told me that I could do the cleaning up! Can you imagine that?? The nerve!
So I will close this session and get back to you again next week. Check in again. Take care and God Bless.
