Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

Travares, FLORIDA - Planes and Trains!

Yes, we've been out running again today! Gary heard that Trevares has a Festival with an old car show. That did it! So we looked into it and found that they were also having an air show as well as trains and quilts on display with BBQ to follow! Can you think of a better combination? Check out the classics here and the rat rods! After looking them over, we went on to the lake front and took our chairs with us. By 10:30 the planes were coming in to shore for people to look them over. At 11 am they had an air show with three different planes and different aerobatic pilots. It was a short but sweet show. We enjoyed it!
Be sure to enlarge these by clicking on them and check out each plane's position!
Now check out the video also!
It all ended too soon, but we then went on to City Hall and checked out the train display
and a small quilt display
After that, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. There was plenty promised activity for the evening including BBQ cook off contest. But we decided not to wait around and went to Charcoal Steakhouse instead. Yum-m. Gary had a burger and I had pulled pork with sweet potato fries. We sure did not go hungry! We'll be good into next week!
After returning to the camp ground, we decided to stop over to see Phil and Ann for a few minutes
as they will be leaving Monday to head north for the summer. It was good to visit with them a little. We kept missing each other many times! And Gary says that we are not always gone!! Ha-ha
We also stopped to see Lois and Don for a little visit before calling it a day. They will also be heading north soon, but we will see them again in Ohio when we get back there.
You can see that the grounds are emptying out here!! It is really quiet also.
I did squeeze one scrap book page in to the day!!
So check in again and see what we can find to do tomorrow!! We had planned to go south to Port Charlotte, but changed our minds for lack of time to really enjoy the visit properly. We have to visit all of the great and great-great nieces and nephews the next time south. Don't forget us!! We will be back.
