Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

Southeast Area FMCA Rally at Brooksville, FLORIDA

We decided to take advantage of a Family Motor Coach Association RV Rally for this Southeast area of the US and attend daily driving down from our RV Resort in Bushnell, FL. These RV Rallies are good for many useful seminars and vendors with merchandise for us full timers. And it is always good for evening entertainment each day. On Wednesday, Gary had to wait at home for the propane delivery to guarantee that we would have sufficient heat for the next week since the temps had been in the 20's and 30's at night. So while he waited at home, I drove down to Brooksville and picked up our registration passes. Then we began attending the next day. However, we found out later that we should have gone back that Wednesday evening for the entertainment even though it was terribly cold. I understand we missed some good music by the group 4:2:Five doing street-corner barbershop and doo-wop. Oh well, live and learn! Thursday evening we got to see Ken's comedy and ventriloquism called "The Funny Dummy Show". It was very humorous and enjoyable even though we thought that we were going to freeze to death. We sure knew enough to layer even more and carry a throw along for the next evening! Ken introduced us to Ms. Lizzie who was hilarious . She said that she wanted to be cremated when she dies! When Ken asked her why, she said that it was so that her ashes could be scattered over Walmart. That way she would then get to see her daughters at least twice a week !" Ken followed that act with people from the audience , who then participated as the "dummy". They all did quite well with the part! He then introduced another character who interacted with the audience also , much to their enjoyment! This was followed by a third "Dummy" . Friday evenings entertainment was Bill Haley's Comets . Even though Bill Haley has passed away, his music lives on much to everyone's enjoyment. We were able to have our pick of seats, so we were in the third row and right under their speakers! It was the best two hours and was over much too soon! The lead singer who also played guitar and the saxaphone player who also sang were part of the Comets when Bill Haley was still with them. This past year they lost the drummer from that time period and he has been replaced with this young fellow . This singer and guitarist ,who has spent four years of his career playing for Chubby Checker, and this base and guitar player who also sang, have been additions since the death of Bill Haley. They all played and interacted well and were most enjoyable!! It was great to sing along with the oldies such as See You Later Alligator, Shake Rattle & Roll, I'm In Love Again, Razzle Dazzle, Skokiaan, Rock-a-Beatin Bogie, Lean Jean, Never on A Sunday and ended the evening with Rock Around the Clock. When they suggested the audience dance if they wished, it was only seconds before some were in the isles! It sure brought back memories! I held off doing this Blog as I thought that I would include the Art Festival that we went to on Sunday in Mount Dora, Florida. Wrong!! It was so-o-o good that I will do it in a Blog all by itself. Follow along!
