Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

TRIP TO MINNESOTA to see Ben

I've let too much time go by since my last Blog, as usual.  We did take the computer with us when we went to Minnesota to visit Ben, but didn't take the time to get it opened up. But we are back at the motorhome and the laundry is caught up, so it is time to get busy!!

Since the last Blog Gary went to coffee with Pastor Pete, and we did the Rt 7 yard sale run from Hubbard to Andover.  By then we had enough of the yard sales and the hazardous parking along Rt 7.

So our next stop was lunch at Scooter's By the Lake in Andover where we met with my cousins, Larry and Betty.  We were so glad to catch up on much family news!!  We don't seem to get together often enough.

My friend, Louise and I did some catching up over dinner at Imperial Gardens in Boardman.  Just a few days after that we got word that Bob, our other friend's husband, passed away.  We lost the friend in 2016.  A real. surprise to us!!  We have to keep reminding ourselves that we are not getting any younger.

Some more doctor and eye doctor appointments and tests have taken place.  Just want to get them all finished before we leave for Florida for the winter.  Since, it's such a strong cold wind today. it won't be any too soon!!  Gary had to dig the heater out last evening!!

Friday, September 18th, we left for our visit with our youngest son, Ben.  We stayed with him for a week and did some great visiting.  We did not do much sight seeing because we did not want to be out in any of the city.   The recent riots caused us to be very cautious!!

We did drive across Minnesota with Ben to go to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Walnut Grove.  It was very interesting!!

When we left Ben's we drove to Logansport, IN the first day and went to an RV supply store the next morning hoping to find a cabinet door for the kitchen in the motorhome.  Although they had many, none were the right size or even the right finish for us.  So with a couple hardware pieces, we moved on back to Berlin Center, Ohio.
We had planned to stop to see my sister who is in a retirement location in Warren, Indiana, but they were on lock down quarantine for Covid.  So we had to bypass that for this trip.  We also chose to bypass our RVing friends in Marion.  Better safe than sorry for them.  We sure wouldn't want to carry anything in to them.
So we will have to plan a trip through there within the next year!!  Sorry we missed all of you!!!😢😢

We are still planning get togethers with family here.  Want to take our grandson out for his birthday, and to hear from his fiancée about her new job in the bakery at Das Dutch Haus.  She loves the work!!

I will check back in with you after we hit the road Occtober 14th.
