Ready to Roll

Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

EXCURSION TO AMISH COUNTRY - AND FRIENDS, SKIP & JAN VISIT

Blogger has changed their program more than I want to deal with, but here goes!!  First I must figure out their changes in uploading pictures!!

I'll begin with a few from here in the park and see how it goes.  I've got the picture.  Now can I add a caption??

Hillside along the entrance drive into the park.
Ah-h!!  Success!!
Hillside along the side of
the park entrance.

My, my!! So far it has been trial and error!!  Can I do it again?  Oh, what a hassle!!
Lake at the front of the park, beyond the hillside.
Lake at the front of the park,
beside the entrance.

Next I'll show a cabin that has had quite a change since last summer.  I understand that it has a floor problem too,

This church camp did not have a week of summer camp with full dormitories and meals all week as they have in summers past.  Because of the covid pandemic, the only people who could stay over night were the ones who had tents or campers of their own.  The rest of the children were here day time.  They did have a hay ride for them and classes and games as usual.

We get to watch out our front window at much of what is going on.
Then occasionally our friends, Jim and Carol, will invite us over to play cards at their "house" here
in the park.  I just love her flowers!!!

She has offered to send some starts from them for my beds in Florida.  I am wondering how many
will survive the heat down there.  I will find out!!  But I do need more perennials.
This past weekend we drove down to Mt. Hope, Amish country, to meet with our Florida friends.
Jan and Skip. Actually they are from Dayton OH area and also live in our SKP resort in Wauchula.
Skip, Jan, Lynn and Tom

We went to Mrs. Yoder's Restaurant with them and their friends, Tom and Lynn, after a shopping excursion at Lehman's Hardware in Kidron.  We did enjoy the Amish ambiance!!

Lehman's Hardware where Jan
found the popcorn popper that
she had been looking for.

I love the bare feet,
and the "binky"

I know they do not approve
photos, especially of faces!
So I tried to be considerate of that.

Richard, I wonder if this would
be an easier method than the
baling that you did??

A couple days later, Jan and Skip moved north to our park for two nights and we got to visit
more and of course, ate more!!

Skip, Jan, Audrey and Gary
They are about ready to leave us
to head on to Connecticut but we
will see them again in the fall.

and their new smaller, easier
traveling home.

On the road again!!

A few weeks ago, Gary went to Warren for a mini Men's Christian Rally on a Saturday.  He is looking forward to the big one (Rally in the Valley) that will be held October 10th in the Covelli Center in Youngstown.  Bing Newton is good at getting these things organized.  I am sure that he has the help of many other men also.

Today we went over to New Brighton, PA,  Merrick Gallery to pick up all of Gary's drawings that
he had on display there for the past month.  They chose one of his drawings to hold to be displayed at their Merrick Masters for the next month.  It was not shown in his own show.  Gary is enjoying all of this, of course!!
Don, they had these two trunks in the Museum Gallery. We thought you would like to see them!!
Especially the one on the left!!
This is a new drawing that Gary has done since we have been back in Ohio. But it is not framed yet.

Well, it looks like I finally finished after three hours!!  I need to insert another picture, but must find
it first!!  So I will publish for now and try to add it later.
Hope that you are all well and have enjoyed the cooler days for a change.  Take care!!
