Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

QUILT SHOW and FRIENDS and RELATIVES in Las Cruses NM

On Wednesday, April 11th, in addition to the Zuhl Museum, we also visited new friends who were going to begin their traveling on Thursday.  Not sure how that will go as that is supposed to be the windiest day here for the season, with winds as much as some 60 mph. But they are only going for an hour and half drive from home. Yes, they have a beautiful house that they have lived in here in Las Cruces for the past forty years.  And best they hang on to it until they are sure that this life style is what they want full time.  Somehow, I feel that this life style will be a part time venture for Jim and Elaine.

The quilt show that we stopped to see, was just small wall hanging quilts, but awesome work. I come from a period of time when quilting was done by hand, but these were all done by machine after designing and cutting. Look close for the quilting designs.

The balloons were stuffed applicates

The ants were iron-on.

The applicated pieces had some
open space also.

I think that you can see the very interesting creativity that I saw here.  Hope you enjoyed!!
Thursday evening after my last TOPS meeting and doing the laundry, we met cousin Mildred's daughter, Barbara, her husband Jim and son Chris for dinner at Cattle Barons steakhouse.

We had a wonderful visit and it was great to hear about their work experiences. Barbara is a teacher of gifted children (from 2nd through 8th grades) in four different school locations in this part of New Mexico. Needless to say, she is a very busy lady. Actually, they all three are!! We met Chris about four years ago and Gary sent him his JEEP hat as his JEEP was one of his loves at that time. It was great to see them again. We look forward to the next time!!
Take care and stay tuned as we move on north in NM on Saturday.
