Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

LAKE CHARLES LOUISIANA

April 9, 2012

Ugh!!!  Blogger has changed their format!!!  I sure am lost, since I am not one to adjust well to change when something took so long to master in the first place.  But I will blunder along and hope that you can follow.  Woe is me!!
Leaving Texas behind, it was great to be in a greener envioronment for a change.  We stopped in a casino parking lot in Kinder, Louisiana on Saturday and then went to a local Methodist church on Easter Sunday.  Returning to the motorhome we decided that there was enough to see in the area to move into their Coushata RV Resort.  It was very nice and clean with many Chalets (park models) as rentals and nice concrete pads for us full-timers.

On Monday we decided to drive back to Lake Charles to find out what the Visitors Center would tell us of local interests.  Brochures in hand, we went on to check out the oldest Catholic Church in the city.

We then saw the Historic Courthouse, going on to the Historic City Hall which has been turned into an Art Gallery.
The week we were there they had an awesome display of Gerry Wubbon's pencil drawings, several which were four by eight feet.  Yes, that was feet, they were done in two by four feet sections!  Those were parents or relatives of his and people of interest.  And yes, I did say AWESOME!
Opps, here is one of those glitches!! This photo of his brochure was upright in my photo program and upright in my file folder, but when I moved it from there into Blogger it came over like this.  I don't know how to correct the issue, but I guess that you can see his quality of work.   By time we looked at all of the art on display in addition ot Wubben's, our day was over.  So back to the motorhome we go and will take another trip the next day in the opposite direction from the campground.  So stay with us!!
