Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

Still in Upstate New York

Moving from 1000 Islands Campground we left acquaintances Ted & Connie behind and Serge & Lise left just before we did . We will miss them and their friendliness. I suppose that will happen to us often. We moved on the first day to Walmart parking lot in Ogdensburg, NY so that we could take a side trip to the Frederick Remington Art Museum . The house his wife lived in for three years after his death was turned over to the city for a museum along with a lot of his art collection of other artists and some of their furniture as well as his own art from paintings and illustrations done for some 250 books. He also wrote some books of his own. His love was the west and it's culture and the Native Americans there. There was also a collection of his sculptures . The next day we stopped off at the Mohawk Casino in Hogansburg, NY for a little fun and dinner.
Then the third day we arrived in Westville Center, NY at the Babbling Brook Campground . I am sure that it was named for the rushing water in the river along the side of the grounds. The sound is great as the campground is very quiet otherwise, but very nice . We will move on from here tomorrow to go on into Vermont.
While here we took a trip out about 10 miles to a 122 foot falls known as the High Falls in Chataugay, NY. I walked down 54 steps and back up, while Gary went all the way down to the river bed which was at least double what I did. I really was afraid of the terrain not the steps. (Donna, I believe I will get a walking stick also!) The park was lovely and we wonder why it hasn't had more acclaim. When leaving that we noticed some power windmills again , so hunted them down. Some gentleman in the Knight of Columbus parking lot told us how to get a closer look. So we got pictures of one under construction with a crane beside it and we could even see the man in the crane bucket !
Now we are ready to go on into Vermont for a Family Motor Coach RV Rally and then on into New Hampshire to the White Mountains.
We've not had very good cell reception here, so we are wondering how it will be as we get on into the mountains. We may have to write snail mail!
