CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS 2013 IN PORT CHARLOTTE FLORIDA

It has been more than two months since I did the last Blog with pictures.  Shame on me!  But I just got a newer version of Creative Memories Workshop to reinstall my old photos with.  I finally located them and am working at updating from the cameras.  Hang in there and I will try to bring you up to date.
I am finding that I must retrain myself to take photos more often.  It even seems to be a chore to remember to carry the camera out the door.  I will have to get back in the swing!!
The biggest event that we have had since the last full blog, was Christmas in Port Charlotte at Audrey's niece's and I will have to post those pictures for family to catch up on.  It was fun!!

It was great seeing Tina's new house and enjoying her wonderful hospitality!!





 

Richard, I thought you would like to see the architecture and contours.  I especially loved the flowers and trees, - and the pool, though did not get to use it.  The water was too cold.

Two months before Aiden and Ilana were children in a family of four.  They now number six with their two new brothers from Ethiopia.  It was amazing how they have adapted to their new family, the family practices as well as the English language!!  They sure fit right in!!

After a day shopping, feeding a family of seventeen, and cleaning up, we always found time to sit down for a few games of Five Crowns.  It was always fun and relaxing!  Gary vegged out in front of the TV, by himself this time.

 

 

The day before Christmas, Tina was rushing to finish wrapping gifts in the garage while Pearl and Audrey helped her by tying fleece throws for the little ones.  The requirements for the family and children exchanges this Christmas was that no gift was to cost more than $5 and they were to be something homemade.  So check-out the pictures of Christmas Day, down below.

 

On to the church's area wide Christmas Eve Program in the Park!  Can't wait for darkness for the fun to begin!

It was a very meaningful program and all went home tired but content, ready to sleep and wait for Santa.

 

The families all chose to return to have Christmas at Grandma Tina's, as they were sure she had more room.  And Grandma loved it!!  It is so difficult for Audrey to realize that Tina is a grandma, and especially to so many, since she stayed with Tina as a tot when her sister was born.  Many years ago, though it seems like yesterday!!

Now it is time for turkey dinner!!  Great that grandma has plenty of space in her kitchen as it sure was the gathering place every time.

As bedtime came on, all was cleared away and we had time for Five Crowns again.  It was a Christmas that Gary and Audrey will not forget!!  Next will be New Years Eve together.  Had the great ringing in of the new year at 8 pm and the youngsters did not know the difference.  They were ready for sleep (almost) and we were all ready for them to call it a day.

 

We are looking forward to this in 2013 in Ohio.  Get ready!!

BLOGS DELAYED

We have had a very busy month since my sister, Pearl, arrived from Ohio.  First on the agenda was cleaning and going through my brother's house.  We lost him on July 31, 2012 and found this task very bittersweet, but a necessity.  I have since listed the house on the market and need to get his car sold as well. 
We took my sister to her daughter's in Port Charlotte for a two week visit.  It was a trip that we felt she deserved after her assistance in all of the work at the house!!  The trip was fun and quite an experience with so many children as Tina had moved there from Indiana to be near three of her children and their families.  So Christmas and New Years was time with eight children aged nine and under.  Two of these were recently adopted from Ethiopia.  They are such precious boys and so enjoyable right along with their US sister and brother, as well as the cousins. So many hugs!!  It was amazing how well they adapted to our customs and use of the English language!!  We could not believe it.  It was a visit that we will never forget!!  And I do have many pictures of it on the camera, waiting for processing.
While in Port Charlotte, Gary had my great niece's husband, Jeff, work on our laptop and bring it up to Windows 7.  In the process I have lost my photo program so it is delaying my archiving of pictures taken over the holidays. Until I get this re-installed, I will not have new pictures for the Blog.  It will be quite a job to catch up.  But I promise that it will happen some day!!  Thank goodness for disc back-up of the photos.
Today we went out to the bank with the idea that I would get a paper notarized so that I could get some paperwork mailed out, but their lobby was not open.  So it will be delayed until Tuesday since we already have plans for a bus trip to Biloxi MS on Monday.  However, we did drive to downtown Pensacola to check out a condo, but were disappointed at the location of it.  So we stopped in at one of our favorites, The Oar House on the wharf, for fish and chips for lunch.  The sun was out strong then (but is cloudy AGAIN now) and the breeze was not too cold, so really enjoyed sitting there.  We also stopped at a Thrift shop but was disappointed there.  So home again and vegging out for the rest of the day.
We went to a chili dinner last evening with our Sunday School group at Olive Baptist here in Pensacola.  It was a fun evening and yummy, as well.  We have really settled in well with this church even though it is a very large church.  This group ministers well and so does the music in the worship service.  The pastor and his sermons really speak to us!! If you would like to hear him, his sermons are on-line as well as on the local radio and television stations.
