Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

DRIVE SOUTH FROM CHEYENNE to MONUMENT, COLORADO

Left this campground just south of Cheyenne WY on Saturday, July 11th

We really were not too happy with conditions.

Coming into Denver.  Traffic more than we like to tangle with!

Downtown skyline.

Sports Authority Field

I think the trains followed us all the way.
One kind or another.

It's not improving.
Don't think that we like this I-25
It doesn't improve after we leave Denver either!!

We see snow on some mountains,
but it really is summer here.

Gary says like riding in a convertible.
I think I'll take the convertible!!

Beautiful country.

I'm waiting for Gary at Park entrance,
by their lake.

This is what most of the park looks like.
Winding roads going uphill.

We are at the top of the hill and it is all level.
And no trees per Gary's request.
No clean-up when we leave that way.
Dusty roads up here and some mud puddles, no problem.
These are the motorhomes across from us.
Sunday we drove into Denver to go to Denver Friends Church.  It is the first Friends church that we have been in since Oregon in 2011 except when we are back in Ohio occasionally. The church is much smaller than Salem and maybe 125 - 150 in the service.  Many were very friendly and some of them were from Ohio, as close as Alliance.  Small world!

Our former Salem pastor, John Pierce was preaching.  They have a week of camp this week coming up, so they will be busy.  He was bothered with a kidney stone this past week, so hope that is gone now and he will be feeling much better.
We have a bus tour of Denver planned for tomorrow, friends to connect with on Tuesday and a second cousin of Gary's to meet on Wednesday.  Hoping that we can crowd in seeing the Garden of the God's and Pike's Peek.  I told Rekha that we will pick her brain as to what to see.  I am sure that there is not enough time for all of it. Gary just said that we need a month here.
Take care now and have a great week.
