Remember Mayberry RFD and Andy Griffith? On our way back to Ohio, we stopped there in North Carolina again as it has such a nice campground!! |
Our motorhome in the center of the picture in the first row that you see. |
We did go into town and drove around. But most of the time there was rain so we did not do much.
When leaving North Carolina behind, we headed north on I-79 to Beckley WV, traveling through the mountain tunnels, after which we stopped at Tamarak for two nights and met with Gary's high school classmate, Sandy.
The second day there Sandy took us to Grandview State Park and about town.
The entire parking lot was surrounded by the pink and lavender rhododendrons. |
Want to climb?? |
What a valley!! |
Gary and Sandy at New River Gorge, Turkey Spur Overlook. |
Beginning of Grandview Rim Trail, but we left that trek for the younger and younger at heart!! |
While about town, we stopped to check out an Antique Mall. Loved this post with sign flag, and especially the carving at the bottom of the post, of a coal miner!!
Had to take a closer-up of the miner!! |
Heading north on I-79 we missed the flying turkeys this time, but found that they must be cleaning or repairing the golden dome on the state capitol building.
Thursday, we did a washer load of towels that we had used to mop up water in the motorhome from when we pulled the living slide in after all of the rain that we lived through in North Carolina. We had them hanging in the shower for the rest of our trip, but they did not dry out. So we were glad to get them done and dry!!
We also went to our son, Richard's to say "Hello" and to see them all including the goats and chickens.
Boy, was I welcomed!! I guess they were looking for carrots.
Richard with the newest family members. They were just over two or three weeks old. |
Love the heart on it's back!! |
Ah-h, carrots at last!!! |
Here at the campground, it looks like the new manager is getting many of the old trashy looking RV's moved out or cleaned up. What an amazing change, but still many to go.
We should begin to see the weekenders coming in soon. And their church camp is the last two weeks in July. Then we will see action.
You all take care and we hope to see friends beginning very soon.
