Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

OUR LAST WEEK near LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

Thursday, May 2nd we had to get to Shealy's BBQ before two of our friends left on their Hawaiian Cruise.

Gary, Mike and Johnny.
You can see Gary's main interest!!  Food!!

After our dinner with Mary and Johnny,  Sandy and Mike took Gary and Audrey on to see the South Carolina Railroad Museum at Winnsboro north of Columbia SC.
It had a lot of neat stuff, though the actual trains need some restoration.  They are totally dependent on donations so that will be a long time coming.

Our narrator was awesome!!
She sure had her information with dates down pat!!

After going through the train, we went through their museum gallery and then checked out the other train cars in the back yard.

The mail car was very interesting.
Many of the deliveries they did not even stop,
just used an arm to swing out for delivery of
a mail bag.
Don, thought of you today!!

Unbelievable how elaborate some of the stations
in smaller towns were!!

We spent another day going to yard sales, but could not get into our church sale until it was about over because there was a very bad accident in front of the church when a lady from the church pulled out in front of another car.  It totaled both cars, and was a wonder that she was not severely injured!!

But we did have a fun day and some good bargains.

Sandy and I then spend another day doing scrap booking. We have so enjoyed the time together scrapping as well as great time visiting.  She lost her mother recently so has many-many photos to at least get into books to protect them.  And a good thing to get them done while she can remember many people in the pictures.

Sandy
After our day out and about, we spent time resting up at Sandy and Mike's. We got to watch the neighbor put up an air balloon.  It was awesome to watch, but over all too soon.

Awesome message also!!

Our time is about over here in SC.  We will leave tomorrow for North Carolina on our journey north. See you all soon!!
