Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

SOUTH CAROLINA'S WORSHIP IN MUSIC

The week beginning April 18th, turned out to be just as busy as the previous week. It has passed quickly and our friend, Sandy, is trying to spend as much time with us as she can get!! We will miss each other when this visit ends.
At church today there were a lot of hugs and requests that we stay. Oh well, can't do that now. Must move on next week.
I went to TOPS on Tuesday and surprised myself by remaining in the black!! With all of the eating out, I was shocked really!! Hopefully, I can hold my own until I can weigh in back in Ohio.
We then went to Sandy and Mike's to play 5-Crowns again. Us gals always enjoy that, and it is more fun when we can get a third or fourth player also.
Wednesday, April 20th was a day spent going from one Thrift Store to another shopping. When we finished with that I went to Sandy's for an afternoon and evening of scrapbooking. I am about to run out of pictures. I need to hold what little that I have left to use when I get to Ohio to spend time with scrapbooking friends there.
We skipped going to the Senior Center this week until Bingo on Thursday and played 5-Crowns on Friday when Gary taught his last art class there. They hate to see him go. It is nice that he had a good turn out here in SC. And the gals all did so well that I have to show you their work.
They are Stella, Tammy, Marden, Edna. The director, Maxine did sit in on one class, but she did do any drawing in class. The last picture here is one that Gary did to show the gals how to do portraits and flesh coloring.

While Gary taught his art class, Sandy and I left and checked out another Thrift Store where I did some real damage buying books to read. We also did more scrapbooking at her house.

Saturday and Sunday we will be eating out, again!! So I fixed food for the carry-in at church on Sunday and then we went to dinner Saturday with friends, Bo and Brenda, and Mike and Sandy at Shealy's BBQ Buffet.
Gary has been dying to go there!! We had a good visit and had our share of pully bones and chicken livers. I hear ya all saying "UGH"!! But they were good and we had a fun waitress. Mike said that she was full of herself.

Sunday dawned with my last dish to prepare before church. They had a special singing group,
Heart and Song from Shannon, North Carolina who conducted the service. It was awesome!! A great message without a sermon!! And Jan and Jack we learned to applaud for the music as it sure glorified the Lord!! They were all full blooded Indian, The tenor was the only full blood Chreokee. It all ended too soon, but everyone was hungry and there was tons of food!! We even took our leftovers home and a carryout box of other favorites.
Friends from Independent Fellowship of the Living Word, we will miss you, and we covert your prayers for our traveling mercies! It has been a great month!!
Sunday evening we went out again for another fellowship with music at a United Methodist Church out here in the country. There is no end to the concerts in churches around the south.

We got to hear Chris Golden who sang several years with the Golden family singers and then seventeen years with the Oakridge Boys. He is now out singing in churches on his own. He came from Nashville. His music was much the testimony of his walk with the Lord! We really enjoyed him also.

Another week ending now, with very little planned except packing things away. We will pull out on Wednesday to head to Mt Airy, NC to meet up with our friends there.
