Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

SHOPPING TRIP NORTH TO OREM, UTAH

Not been doing much except at home and shopping on Monday.  Gary was not feeling much like it, but we did drive north to Provo and Orem south of Salt Lake City to do some scrapbook shopping for me at Hobby Lobby. It was a huge store and spent a good hour in there. We also had lunch at Sizzlers and it was great!
Always awesome scenery!!
Very small towns that we drove through had different things to offer in history, a very old bank, an old theatre which is still used for such and a Mormon Tabernacle in Payson.

We could see Utah Lake and mountains, both from Orem, Utah.

Roadside scenery was great as we drove through the long valley -- and many little towns scattered throughout the valley --

Some high elevations nearby, high enough for snow on top --
There are mountains east of the highway over 9K feet and some over 11K --

We are back home to walk around the park.  Good exercise if we do it often enough!!
Two cabins with all amenities.

Three cabins with just sleeping room.
You can see our home in back, on another road in the park.

The park office and a laundry under
reconstruction.  So glad it is nearing completion!

Unfortunately, this is the only laundromat in town.
We went there once and carried the laundry home to fold!!
This was what the back of the washers also looked like,
around the coin feed.  Only went there once!!
Never saw anything like it anywhere across the country
in seven years of travel!!
Last week we went into downtown area and looked through a couple stores.  Interesting way to spend a little time. We found this chest and I would love to buy it and ship it back home for when we settle! We loved it. but don't remember the price. I doubt that it was inexpensive.

We just got back from lunch at the Richfield Senior Center.  Great food, especially the potatoes and the bread.  We could have fed on just a loaf of the wheat bread!!  We did not bring any home, it was too good.
When we walked in I recognized a woman who we saw on TV last evening.  She was interviewed about her family history and her relationship to Clyde Jorgensen (her brother and best friend). Though he is no longer living, he left quite a legacy in the businesses that he bought and built throughout his lifetime.  His two son's run all three businesses now and they employ about 100 people. They were interviewed about that heritage and what their father/brother was like.
She was so glad that we introduced ourselves to her.  Maybe tomorrow we can get a picture of her.
She is so typical of the people of this area.

Sunday was not a good day.  The pastor resigned after the service.  He explained why and it was heart wrenching, but not new to the vocation!!  Please keep them, Pastor and Mrs Bobby Gore and family, in your prayers for a new job search and location.  Also pray for the church that they might have insight into what the church needs and how they should handle it.
The pastor's one daughter just graduated from high school here in Richfield and will be going back east to SC for college.  That is where they came from three years ago.  Pray for her move also.

We will be pulling out next Monday to move on north.  Stay with us.
