Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

MEETING RELATIVES and VISITING THE OLD MILL in NORTH LITTLE ROCK

Having settled in for a week and having taken our tour of the city on Wednesday, with a rest after, we are now ready to meet up with Audrey's great nephew, Andrew, wife Kelli, and children Cole and Olivia.  We have not seen them for about four years when in Port Charlotte, so I am anxious to get better acquainted!!

A street near Andrew's apartment complex.

Entering complex, but wrong street!

After meeting the children again, we sat about visiting for a while before going out to The Old Mill.  The kids were so anxious to share their toys and bug collections with us.

Olivia
They are in a garden apartment, so they have a yard to play in, close by.  They tell us that they also have a swimming pool nearby.
Grandma Tina, and Great Grandma Jean, I just wanted you to know that I gave Olivia your hugs, but Cole ran the other way!!  Never fear, I got him the next day!!

Now on to The Old Mill, established in 1933 as Pugh's Memorial Park.  It is a replica of an abandoned water-powered grist mill from the 1800's.  Although this old mill never operated as a mill, the iron grist mill on the first floor is authentic and dates to 1828.  A Mexican was commissioned during the construction, whose faux bois (fake wood) was perfected in the details of this work of art around the pond and walkways.  The Old Mill appeared in the opening credits of the 1939 movie, Gone With The Wind.

After using up some energy climbing, it is time to go on to McDonald's for the kids choices, before going on to the Applied Light coffee meeting at the church where Andrew works as youth pastor.  Cole was so anxious to show us the youth rooms.

Guess we arrived at the correct location,
the activity building of Lakewood UMC.
By time we finished up here, we headed for home and left Andrew and Kelli to wrap it up here at the church with plans made for Thursday.
