Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

CHRISTMAS TIME, 2021 near Wauchula, Florida

Wednesday, December 8th, the LEO'S (short for Let's Eat Out) went out for lunch at the new Beef O'Brady's in Wauchula.  We were not impressed with the new B.O.B. and I think that the lunch organizer called them to explain our disappointment.  I'm doubtful that we will go there again though!! LEO's is the group that includes anyone from the resort wanting to go.

But we do always have a good time!!

On Thursday, the 9th, our S. S. Class had been invited by the Robertson's to picnic in the evening at the Cabin on their farm.  We went a little early, since we did not know where we were going, so that we could find it while it was still daylight!!  It was a great evening with great food and fellowship!!

It is almost dark, but the area is well lit!!
And the huge fire ring makes plenty of light!!

The men beginning to gather.
Men talk, I am sure.  Maybe even
farm talk!!
Nativity near the Cabin
(Glad that I finally came back here
to insert this picture!!)
Wilbur has his special "high" chair to
accomodate his long legs.

Such an awesome cabin!!
The 'outhouse" is actually in the cabin
with the door from the outdoors there
on your left.
They said that the 'shower' however,
is around back!!  We got a laugh out
of all of this!!
The ladies did a great job of laying out food
tables.  But this is just part of it!!

The deserts were on the other side of the yard/fire.  Again it was lovely and the weather held for us!!  Thank you Wilbur and Susan!!

We did our home decorating that week as well.  It's late for me, but too many things to do.  I love this season but I am sure that it will end all too soon!!  We also had a windshield replacement of half of the motorhome windshield.  A stone hit us from a truck tire on our drive south and it has taken this long to get the insurance arrangements made and appointment scheduled.  But it is finished.

Wednesday, the 15th,  was lunch out for the ROMEOs (Real Old Men Eat Out) at the Olympic Restaurant in Avon Park.  And it happened to be scheduled out for the same day that the lady SKPette's Christmas lunch was held at the Historic Jacaranda Hotel, also in Avon Park.  Since I am the organizer for the ladies this year, it was easiest for me to make a repeat of last year's Christmas Ladie's lunch.   It is such a beautifully decorated place and the food is a pretty good buffet.  I can't imagine the chore of storing away of all of their decorations!!  I called back after I got home and scheduled next year's also.

Our group of SKPettes attending this year.

My table, ladies to my left, Debbie, Jean Anne,
and Rudee.
Wow! These two, Jean and Rudee, sure got
to sharing their funny and awesome stories
of their work camping experiences out west!

We could have kept listening to their stories for another hour!!  My picture sure does not depict all of the laughter though.
