Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

FLOWERS versus WEEDS in Florida!!

In reading through all of the Blogs that I posted since our arrival in Wauchula last November, I realized that I had not posted pictures of my finished flower beds.  I know that I have sent them out to some I correspond with via text, but I guess I forgot about getting them in the Blog.  I'll do that now.  I want to be sure to have them in the Blog books for my rocking chair days!!

Old flower bed??

One of several piles of weeds pulled
from previous beds.

Old flower bed??

Beginning of change in flowers.

Last year's overgrown area.

Beginning of upgrade!!
The lavendar Salvia sure has been a great choice!

Hm-m-m-m!  More needed!

Work ahead!!

Cleaning small bed.

Hibiscus bloomed for
a few weeks, but has since
stopped flowering and
began dropping leaves.

Mum received from a friend a year ago.
Blooms look different this year, but still pretty!

Improving as the Salvia bushes out!!

Froggy from the Park Yard Sale.

"Garden Nut Lives Here!"
Gift from an Ohio friend!
Thank you Louise!!

The flowers have filled out and look much better!!  But I think that I might loose three flowers in the middle of the center picture.  Not sure what is happening, but the Park landscaper is treating some of these same bushes around the park.  I might have to replace them in the fall when we get back here.  These are not the best pictures, but can still take more!!

I have enjoyed having the flower beds as I missed the ones that I had on Goshen Road in Salem.  But I sure can tell that I am a much older gardener!!!
Have a great day!!
