Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

LAS CRUCES and LE MESILLA, NEW MEXICO

MOUNTAIN VIEW from entrance to  HACIENDA PARK

Organ Mountains - - I love the View!!
We've been here in Las Cruces for a week now. A day after we arrived at Hacienda RV Park I went to Urgent Care to take care of a cough and what appeared to be a sinus infection. I'm not through the antibiotic yet, but must finish it all.
Our goal here is to do some sight seeing and to visit with Gary's cousin, Mildred.  Since I did not want to share my illness with Mildred and her new husband, Pete, we stayed away from them until Tuesday, March 20th, when Gary went by himself to visit with them. Gary and Mildred have a lot of genealogy interests alike so that gave them time to delve into that. They went to lunch together also.
On Thursday after checking the Internet for the location of a TOPS in this area I ventured out by myself to find it. After a half dozen trips back and forth on the highway at the end of our street, it turned out to be right around the corner from our park in a Retirement Community activity room. I was so glad that it was handy and was so glad not to have any gain since leaving Mesa, AZ.
In the mean time I did a lot of reading until Gary and I went out to get groceries and to stop at a few thrift stores.  I've gotten to the point where I can walk out without a find. We first went to our favorite book store here in Le Mesilla which is such a quaint area.  It is huge and has so much to offer. Gary was looking for books by specific authors and I was just looking.
On Thursday Mildred called us to meet them for lunch today at La Posta Mexican Restaurant in Le Mesilla just down the road to the south of us.

I forgot to take the camera with me so will use archive pictures. I will get some more pictures to add to this!! Added pics 4-5-18.
More of those beautiful mountains as we went north to find Lowe's. Hope that you enjoy them as much as I do!!

Not sure what is on the agenda for tomorrow, but we do have reservations for a Carlsbad Caverns Tour next week and we want to find a Quilt Show that Mildred told us about. I'm sure we will find plenty to do.
Hope all is well with all of you!!
