Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

OUR RECENT INVESTMENT

OF COURSE, OUR TRIP BACK TO OHIO WAS FOR OUR GRANDSON'S GRADUATION, However we had this condo in the back of our mind as we had looked at it back in September when we were here last. We were not ready to stop traveling so put it off at that time.

We began this stay going ahead with the investment after all.
The investment is a condo for our retirement from retirement travels a few years down the road, or if we come to a point where we have to quit the road. That is not in the near future though. Our residence will remain Florida until that time.

We have a few minor repairs to make on the unit, but none of them crucial at this time. Just clean carpet and the three pieces of furniture that they left for us, and then three rooms to have painted. Scheduling the cleaning was not a problem, but the painting is about four weeks out.

Elevator in picture on left from the front entrance
and seven steps on the right of the lobby going to
our floor.

The back entrance comes in from the carports which are enclosed for security. This security is what sold us on this condominium since we are not ready to reside in Ohio at this time.

It is available to be reserved by any resident.
You just have to leave it clean.

Kitchen side of the Hospitality room is completely
supplied with all of the dishes and cooking
equipment you could want for any entertaining.

Now on to our condo unit --

Our balcony with a view of the pool.
I already have two flower pots with geraniums.

Two closets across the entire end of the bedroom.
There will be plenty of room for our hobbies!!

Kitchen table, gives me plenty of cookie baking room.

The interest in furniture began with this writing desk!! It is oak and beautiful, though there is not a chair with it. One of the kitchen chairs works fine for now.

This is the table for the dining area that is being held at Ann's Antiques Shop until our painting is done. We will recover the chair seats as we do not like that black. But that should be a simple task. We have had so much fun going to antique and thrift shops, as well as garage sales.  The bug sure bit us.

We have felt that we are going four directions at once!! Saturday our grandson helped us move a few storage things. But since we are not moving to Ohio at this time, there is no hurry.

Stay tuned and hopefully we get into some more fun things. We need to make a trip to Minneapolis to see our third son, but not sure when he will have time for us. Best Buy keeps him traveling a lot.
This and two more Blogs, are all from out first six weeks in Ohio. Enjoy!!
