Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

MAY BACK IN OHIO

Early in May, after the repair of the motor home, we did get to join some of our high school classmates for lunch. We always enjoy that camaraderie.
Class of '63 at B B Rooners in Salem--

We sat across from Rudy and Cecelia
and had a lot to talk about for common interests
in travel.

Class of '62 at Salem Air Park Restaurant. We were glad to see this restaurant open back up.

Mary Lou and Kathy
Kathy and her husband have spent many years in
Florida where he worked for Disney.

Of course, Gary enjoyed the decor'.

Gary also did lawn edging at our son's to say thank you for his open home when the motorhome was in for repairs.
Today Victor sent us a text showing part of a neighbor's tree that came down brushing Vic's house. Gary probably can get some time in cleaning some of that up.  He is waiting for the neighbor's land lord's insurance, since they were there to check it out today.

Yes, much of our recreation includes eating out!!  It's always a difficult task to keep our weight under control here in Ohio!!
Last evening, June 12th, we joined some friends going to Amish friends in Burton for dinner. Miriam cooks dinner for as many as 24 in one evening.  We love going there, but know that we will have to starve before and after to keep the weight under control. But the meal is always worth it. Her husband, Aiden, helps with serving and cleaning off the table.
He had to feed the horses before dinner, so Gary tagged along as he has been wanting to take pictures of Aiden's black stallion, Bruno. However, Bruno was not out this time, so Gary will wait until another day to get those pictures. He got the pictures of a mare and foal this time.  The foal is two weeks old.

We so enjoy visiting this couple!! Miriam has called me following some of my surgeries to get an update on my health. Hopefully, we will get to go back again before heading south.

There is one more Blog below that I did today also!!
