Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

VALENTINE'S DINNER in PENSACOLA FL

Not much going on in this out of the way place!  This park is okay for a short term stay, but not for a month. Boring! The only thing around is Black Water River and Parks or the Beaches to the south. But the weather has not been good for the beaches, for sure!
We have gone into Milton to Lowe's and K-Mart and then the other direction another day to Crestview.  That always brings on sadness since that is where my oldest brother lived (He is now in
Chicago near some of his kids.), but not much more of interest there.  Even our favorite used book store there has closed up!
We only have nine days until we move on east and south!
I did spend a day last week scrapbooking and today Gary did some handyman projects around, but the wind is kicking up now. I don't think that it is to be much more than wind.
Last Friday we went in to Pensacola to pick up our mail and then to meet with our SS Class for a Valentine's dinner at Franco's Italian Restaurant. We had a very nice time and most everyone was there.
Wonderful decorations, very festive!

Jerry and Ashley and Ashley's mother.
Our table with Howard, Lana, Ron and Edith.
Wonderful time visiting!

It was a great time to thank Ruth and David for their faithfulness as teachers for our class.

This church and class has sure seemed like home for us even though the church is huge compared to what we are used to.  The ministry that Olive Baptist has in this city of Pensacola is very diversified. They are in the middle of a building project to house some education groups right now.  I also found out that there is one night a month when a scrap booking group meets there. I just wish is was during the day so that I would be more comfortable traveling the 45 miles from Pensacola to home in Holt. But 11pm at night is not a good time for that trip. So I will skip it this time around and hope that next time through here we will stay closer to the city. It is a way to meet more people.
Tuesday we will be going to lunch with more friends from class, and last Sunday Dennis had his chance to introduce us to more southern cooking at PoFolks after church. We had a good visit with Henrietta and Bob, as well as Joanne and Dennis. We had enough left overs for two more days! As our friend Donna says, it is one of our favorite ways to cook!!
Take care now and stay warm!!
