Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

FISHLAKE STATE PARK in UTAH

Our Saturday began bright and sunny, with a forecast of clouds and heavy rains at times!!  What a combination!!  The view from our door did not look bad.
So we decided that we were not sitting at home another day.  We began with breakfast in Richfield at Little Wonder Cafe on Main Street.  The decor was clocks all over the walls and sitting around and on shelves.
Gary's shoe store was right across the street!!  And the post office across the corner.  So Gary checked for mail and then we took off.
It was a good beginning, so then we started going east to find Fishlake State Park about forty miles away.  All beautiful scenery as usual for Utah!!  We could see the storm clouds overhead, but no rain yet, at least not down at our level.  The clouds always leave dark shadow patterns over the landscape, but beautiful anyway.  The valleys here can be as interesting as the mountains.

We finally reached the lake and found it to be a fisherman's paradise!!

There was a very nice lodge with cabins for those fisherman as well as campgrounds around.  I'm sure a wonderful home away from home.  We are seeing pines, but also stands of white birch.  It will be awesome when they come out in leaf.

From there we turned around and went out to the the highway heading for Capitol Reef National Park.  It is another twenty-plus miles.  Now we will get into the red rocks!!  But I will show you those in a separate Blog.  So check back.  Still no rain!!
