Ready to Roll

Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

HERE AND THERE ABOUT TOWN IN OHIO

The same weekend of Gary's 50th Class Reunion our Sunday School Class had a picnic at Ann's family cottage on Berlin Lake.  There were many of the class unable to attend, who we missed, but it did not deter the rest of us from having a wonderful time of fellowship and great food!!  The state owned land in front of the cottage going to the lake edge gave much great landscape for games and picnicking.
Gordon, Cindy, Don, John, Jim and Bonnie get in a game of croquet.
With some instruction and much jesting interaction, fun was had by all from what we observed.
Ann, Renae, Cathy, Cheryl, Bryan and Lisa letting dinner settle.

Randy and Gary are catching up on scouting news while Nile and Sandy visit with those across the table.  And others went inside of the cottage.  So nice and comfy!!

After Ann got the grill fire under control, we were able to share all of the covered dishes others brought in.  Yummy!!  Amazing for us, it was after dark before we left.  We usually are not nocturnal animals any more.
Thank you Ann for a great time and great location!!

Along with all of the picnics and dinners, Gary managed to get in a morning that weekend with our grandson to go out to breakfast and check out the garage sales.  Richie is looking for a curling bar, but they have not found one yet.  It was a good morning!!

After Sunday dinner at Denny's with our oldest son, Victor, we went on to the storage unit.  We keep trying to clean out some from the motor home!!  And we got new lawn lounges.  Not sure which are more comfortable though, the old or the new but one set had to go into storage!!  Hope that we are not sorry which ones we stored.

When Monday rolled around it was time again for Audrey to get together of the Bible Study Ladies for a Potluck.  What, more food??  You bet!!  We had good fellowship and good time in prayer.  It was a tough time though as it was the first time back together after the loss of our dear friend Kathy.  But we know that she is without pain now, Praise the Lord!!

Audrey had lunch with a new friend, Sandra, at the Salem Air Park Restaurant.  Awesome fish sandwich.  Gary and I are looking forward to a Sunday dinner there soon.  Sandra and I went out for a little drive in the country nearby, which was my home area both when I was born and then later during grade school time.  It was fun to reminisce.

Gary and I did our run to Mountaineer for a few hours on Tuesday.  We consider this our relaxing time!!  Just in time for Gary to get back to his project for the motorhome.  He is building a cabinet to hold shoes by the door, as well as cameras and such.  It will be so handy!!

This side to have doors.

Shoe side to be by the door.

He has since been staining it to look like the desk cabinet that he made for me a couple years ago.  So glad he is so handy!!  He also has curtain rods to put up in the bathroom as well as a little stand that he is making out of scrap wood to set by my recliner.  Hopefully, he will get all of this finished before we move the motorhome to South Carolina in mid-September.  Then I have sun shades to cut and hang for the side windows in the front of the motorhome.  It sure will help with the sun glare while traveling!!

The rest of the week will be doctor appointments and visits to Audrey's brother in Mentor.  It sounds as good an excuse as any to spend the night at her sister's condo.  Pearl, sorry you weren't there, but the bathtub was wonderful!!  Hope that you are having a wonderful visit in Oregon and Washington!!  Looking forward to your return.

This week will wind down with an appreciation lunch picnic today here at Timashamie for the campers.  And that will be followed by the First Friends Church chicken BBQ this evening which is done annually for the benefit of the Friends Disaster Service.

SO, a full week and full tummies!!  Not sure how many pounds we have put on over the summer, but it will have to come to a screeching halt!!  Maybe when we hit the road again.  Stay with us.
