Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

AT HOME, NEW LOCATION IN OREGON

We are "Movin' On" as we prepare to leave Cascade Meadows Resort at LaPine, Oregon.
As we drive north in Oregon much of the land that we drive through is Indian Reservation. It is such beautiful country.
We begin to see Mt. Hood off in the distance also.
After a very tiring drive down out of the mountains, Gary had to stop and relax a minute. And I took this picture of a snow removal vehicle in the valley near Mt. Hood. We just hope that we are headed away from the snow and not toward it!!
Ah-h-h, home at last as we drive into Mt. Hood Village Resort in the valley where we will be located for a few months while we work and see the sights in the area, and hopefully some in Washington also. The resort is lovely camping atmosphere!! The Pines and Hemlocks abound.
This is nearing our site, but will show you that site in our next Blog as I have not taken a picture of us yet.
Within a couple hours we are set up and looking from our computer area out on the view in front of us. I do want to clean up the leaves and pine cones on our lot and get some flowers to make it more like home for the summer. Gary also has a roof leak to take care of since we have had a lot of rain after arriving. Always something to keep up with the maintenance. Once Gary begins working within the week, I will have him bring a leaf rake home so that I can get at the lot!!
In the mean time we make a few trips into Sandy and Gresham on west of us to shop a little. the scenery as we return to the Resort is awesome with Mt. Hood about 25 miles away from us at this view point. We will have to drive up there for some more awesome pictures for sure!!
We have begun attending a First Baptist Church in Sandy so we now feel right at home. Stay with us and we will share more of things we see.
