There were nearly ninety in attendance. (People who did not go home for the holidays, or have family come to visit them.) Since this is such a large Resort, it is nice to have the network of friends that came about because of the common bond of "workamping". Our director furnished the ham for our dinner and the rest of us filled the rest of the tables of food. There definitely was not any shortage of food!! We were supplied right down to the little mice on the dessert table. They were so cute made of cherries dipped in chocolate, with a white chocolate kiss and two ears of almond slices!! 
There was magic and slight of hand for entertainment while we were eating and socializing.
But then the real fun began when the dinner organizers put on a skit to the tune of "Santa Baby".
Ron and Ann are such a nice couple who work hard to keep us all at home here, getting acquainted with each other!! They keep very busy organizing many of the activities.
The after dinner fun continued with the drawing from the white elephant gifts brought by each one of us.
The gifts were then swapped as Glo read a funny story in which the words left and right were used liberally. We were passing the gifts as she read, switching direction for the gifts when each directional work was read. After unwrapping your gift, every one had an opportunity when called to either keep their gift or trade once with anyone. Much fun and many laughs were shared during this swapping process!!
I had my eye on the Mexican sombrero, but I did not get it as my gift had been broken in the process of swapping and I did not want to pass on a broken gift!! I figured better luck next time. But Ron our party organizer made sure that mine got traded for his box of candy. I said that they are so sweet, didn't I??
At the end of the party the organizers surprised their visiting daughter for her birthday. Another near Christmas birthday, eh Vic??
And she was surprised!!
We spent an evening after Christmas driving around the resort checking out the Christmas decorations. They did judge the streets for the "best decorated". Out of twenty-two streets there were three "best" and two "honorable mention", but ours was not one of them. Quite a few on our street did not arrive from places north until after the holidays. With the bad weather in the north, I am surprised they did not pull up roots earlier!! There are so-o-o many from Canada!! Enjoy the lights!
Of course, you can see that these are Park Models. Who else would have storage space for all of this "stuff"?? Even our little tree fits with all of our other decorations in one under-the-bed box that we squeeze into our basement compartment! We did add a set of three spiral trees this year for outside. We did not want to play Scrooge!!
We finished up a wonderful year going to Apache Junction (about ten miles away) to spend New Years Eve with Ohio friends Bill and Bette in their new Park Model winter home. We had not visited with them since we arrived in AZ. So it was great catching up while we played Pegs and Jokers and munched all evening. We haven't stayed out till 2 am in years. Yes, that was 4 am Ohio time!!
Thanks Bill and Bette, we had a wonderful time!! We must get together again soon.
The Sunday after New Years Gary invited a couple at church from Washington state to go out for dinner. We had a wonderful visit, but did not even get time to talk about all that they have seen in their travels. So we will have to do it again and we can get better acquainted and share more!! So glad that you could go, Don and Louise!
