Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

MANATEES in FLORIDA

Before we left Ohio, I got to go with our daughter-in-law and our grandson get his hair cut. We wanted to be sure to take pictures! His last hair cut was in June of 2008. He has been growing this for Locks of Love and was determined to wait it out. By time the beautician got it all pulled into many ponytails to get the maximum length to donate, I would imagine only about half of it was the required ten inches. Thank goodness he had thick hair ! But when I stayed with him a couple days later, he said, "NEVER again!" But Grandpa and Grandma are glad that he got this long hair bit out of his system while young! Now he looks like the boy we were always doing things and going places with! I am sure that swimming this summer at Timashamie will also be more pleasant for him. On the way south we enjoyed the blooming trees . It makes me want to buy some flowers for here at the motorhome. I am thinking that I will plant one pot to enjoy. I am sure that you in the north are looking forward to that also! One of our shows here in the park was a Ken Brady , an original from the Casinos group from Cincinnati, Ohio. This group began in 1957 and the group is still around though some singers have changed. Of course, they do the music that we most enjoy!Ken had a father/daughter new introductory group performing with him . Trich had a good strong voice and was good at getting the audience involved. But her father, Tony, did not cut the mustard in our book. On the whole the evening was enjoyable!! We have also been determined to see the manatees before we leave Florida. So we went out yesterday and had a good time near the Gulf coast at Homosassa. The Tour Boat that we went out on only went out into Crystal River to some warm spring areas where the manatees stay most of the time when they are not in the salt water of th Gulf, was really geared for the swimmers who wanted to get in the water with them. This couple who were on our boat with us, did just that and found it colder than expected in spite of their wet suits! We took plenty of pictures so that we could give them some. While they were watching the school of manatees in the roped off area, we were watching the manatees swimming by our pontoon boat and the people in their kayaks going up and down the river. This gal was determined to pet the animal since they are so docile! We were disappointed with this Boat Tour though, as it really was geared for taking the swimmers out. But while out there we heard of a State Park near by that was a Wildlife Preserve. So we left this tour and went on to the Preserve. It was much more worth the time and money! I will do a separate Blog with the pictures from the Park though as they had many varieties and it was quite interesting! Today we got out the calendar to plan the next two and a half weeks so that we can do all that we had hoped to do before we leave this area to begin our trip north. We are loosing people from our campground left and right as they pull out to go home. It is amazing how barren it gets! We lost the American Eagle next to us today, so we are really in the sun now! It is a good thing that we have the sun shades, for some extra protection. And there is still a good breeze! So check in with us again soon! Take care and God Bless.
