When checking out where to start - - I didn't realize that it has been so long since I have written a Blog!! We arrived at Deer Trail Park near Nekoosa, WI on

These were things close to the campground that we found interesting!! I think that the wood piles were for heating the house in the burner close by.

One of our first excursions was the Antiques Shop here in Kenoosa. It had an antiques soda fountain in it also. We only found a box of four water goblets to match what we have in the condo. Just had to get something!

We have been in Kenoosa, Wisconsin at Deer Trail for a week to visit with Gary's cousin, Carol in Wisconsin Rapids, and her family. We also were on a research run for another cousin of New Mexico to find some burial plots of Gary's ancestors from the 1880's and prior. They are recorded to have been buried in Osseo, Wisconsin not long after arriving from Norway. However, we did not find any grave markers with the name Belle (nka Belden).The church there was not open so we could not have them check all of the records assuming that they were buried without markers being put on the graves. Gary and his cousin, Mildred, do a sharing of Belden genealogy research. Actually Mildred does the Belden (Gary's mother's side) research and Gary does his Wyatt side research. We will have to check more later for her records.

This was an interesting child's marker,
Decorated with a Chev. pick-up, many cigarette lighters,
and coins. I wondered if the young fellow died from
cancer and was a smoker??
Note: the ending on the last name, most of the names
in the cemetery ended with son and sen.
But we three had a fun day with dinner out also. Thank you Carol!!
On Saturday we went into Wisconsin Rapids to a Cranberry Festival, walking the street and more walking through a two floor Antiques Shop while Gary checked out their Cruis-in. Carol and I also checked out the Quilt Show there.

She says with taking care of family, a 140 year old home
and everything else in her life, she does not get to work
on the quilt as often as she would like. |

Most of the quilts on display were machine quilted, which ladies considering home made quilts.
I would have to do some research to find where we found this tricycle and vase. I do believe it was before we left Minnesota. I have looked for the trike for over a year to put a flower pot in for our condo balcony. It might be a little larger than I had planned, but you never know when you might find something. So I couldn't pass it up.
The vase I found in Cannon Falls, MN when I went back there to get six mugs they had that matched our dishes in the condo. This vase was like ones that I saw on a PBS show about things along Highway 61 in Minnesota. The woman showing them was a collector and told the history of them. Some of hers were much more colorful. She had a hutch full of them. Fortunate for me when I found them, they had printed information sheets nearby.
Nemadji Indian River Pottery hand made from clay deposits found in this area by the Indians. These clay deposits were supposed to have been left by 25,000 year old retreating glaciers. The various pottery styles are beautifully hand painted and fashioned after original pottery pieces used by the Ancient American Indians. So I just had to have it as a keepsake from our travels. I don't buy much, but occasionally something fits the bill.
Tomorrow we take off and move on to Oshkosh WI where Gary wants to see the Experimental Air Museum. So stay tuned.
