Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

APRIL - AUDREY'S ACCIDENT, EASTER, and TRIP NORTH COMING SOON!!

Palm Sunday, April 10, 2022 had a Service for many Baptisms at New Hope Baptist Church in Wauchula.  A friend from previous years that we had come to know at New Hope also returned for a Sunday of sharing during her short visit to the area  She was interested in using her flying and plane mechanics abilities for missionary work. and left for this committment while we were up north for the past season.  It was good to listen to her speak of her new missionary work for Flight Ministries.

New Hope had been looking for new pastors since before our locating about a mile down the road from our new home at SKP Resort.  We liked the Interim retired pastor and hated to see him go.  But I am sure he was anxious to continue into his retiremennt!!  The new pastors have been good changes for the church though!!

with more youth baptisms.

It is time for Gary to be collecting his Art work from surrounding art communities so that he can take it with us as we return north for the summer season.  He will be showing in Ohio and also New Brighton, PA while we are there.
It is now time for packing up and to pack away anything about on our lot that might fly away if there should be any huricanes in that area of Florida while we are gone.
Not quite ready to leave, when we were set back with my fall when climbing from the shower in the motorhome. It is quite far off the floor of the motorhome, but has never been a problem before in the 14 years that we have lived in it.  ( After my fall,  it became the storage place for many things while we traveled up the road. )
Shower, then began it's
storage function for the
upcoming trip.

I ended up going to the nearby hospital by Medical Transport for xray and a temporary wrap.
This was the third accident within the resort in just a couple weeks time.  One 90 year old lady fell in her home and suffered broken bones in her neck and surgery to follow.  A second lady nearer our age fell and had a bad break of her wrist when she left her home to deliver a basket of her famous cookies.  She also had to go through surgery after we hit the road.   Gary was warned by me that there was to be no siren used!!  There'd been enough excitement in the park!!

Needless to say we did not attend the park's Easter Dinner.  I was not on crutches yet!!.Gary picked up carry-out from the Clubhouse for us.   But we missed being able to say our good-byes for the season!!  Close friends nearby did stop by and Marsha stayed with me one day the next week while Gary had to go to his foot doctor.  I so enjoyed these visits!! Thanks friends!!

We were able to leave as planned on Friday, April 22nd early enough to make it to Walk About RV Park in the very southern part of Georgia.
And we arrived in Alliance, Ohio about noon on Monday, April 25th!! The motorhome went into a garage in Alliance for some major repairs before setting up our home for the summer.
Stay tuned and I will start to update you on our visit in Ohio.
