Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

OHIO - RAIN BRINGS RELIEF FROM THE HIGH TEMPS FOR A FEW DAYS

It is raining today again, so I look for indoor projects to keep me busy.  Today it is pictures and Blog and tomorrow it will probably be laundry.  But hope that it is sunny for transporting that!!

One of our first outings when back in Salem Area was the GEMS in the GYM at First Friends Church.  The gym was sure full so I had to be choosy!!  I bypassed these rubber stamps at 50 cents each as "not needed"  Now I wish I had gone ahead and bought some.  But I did pick up the Miche purse and covers.  I have been enjoying making a collection of these which I began while in Wauchula, FL. Now that I have ten covers, I just have to use them!!

Stamps and more stamps!!

We used to have a yard golf game that we carried in the motorhome for at least ten years.  But finally gave it to a family with young children (pastor's family) in Mesa, Arizona.  Now our daughter-in-law keeps reminding us that she misses it.  So Gary got busy and made the frame for one and he still needs to find the golf balls.  You can bet that we will leave it with her when it is complete.  At one of their picnics since we have been back, she did have a yard Yahtzee.  I thought it was neat and they sure did use it.  But they use their pool plenty also.

We have also been doing our usual thrift store shopping.  One of the stores had tons of books and well sorted on shelves!!  So we can keep going back there from now until October.
This one did not have much of interest to us.

A new store just a few blocks from
our condo in Boardman.
The closest one of these that I have seen is in
Mid-Ohio.

This turtle sure looks big enough
to be nasty.  It was on the road
in front of our campground.
We also had to stop traffic(? a pick-up going one way  and us going the opposite) for a family of little racoons until they followed the mama across the road.   I also had a deer run across in front of me one late afternoon!  I guess we will have to be on our toes.

This was the work
underway in the park
when we arrived.
A lot of clean-up going on!!
The campground is sure looking nice under this caretaker!!
This is on the street
behind us in the campground.
So cute!!  I want one!!

One of Gary's first jobs after set-up!!

These are just two of the flower beds at the condo in Boardman.  The lady doing this does it out of love and a need to keep busy.  She sure has a gift!!

I look from our balcony out onto this one.

Enough for  one Blog so will close this out.  I sure have a rough time with them since Blogger has changed it's format!!!  I hate change like this!!!
You all take care and stay healthy!!
