Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN, HEADED SOUTH through KENTUCKY AND TENNESSEE!!

Our last stop at our condo in Boardman left us with a warm fuzzy for the fall colors in Millcreek Park behind our condo car port.

We love the red and burgundy colors too,
when we can find them!  And we do!!

We left NEO Retreat Center and took the motorhome for service before hitting the road on Thursday, October, 15th at 5:45 am.   We arrived at Oak Creek Campground at Walton, Kentucky about noon.  That gave us time to rest up for our tour of The ARK on Friday.  It was a pricey adventure, but worth it!!  Knowing that it was built from details researched for authenticity, there was a lot of food for thought.  All of my life I have pictured the animals entering the Ark two by two as most artists depict it.  But you really don't have the concept of size and all until you walk through it and realize there were multiple floors.  That and many of the memos posted on walls really helped you learn the event in more depth.
Entrance to parking lots.

Bus taking us to the Ark from the parking lot.

Audrey in awe!!

We begin our assent.  I'm comin' Gary!!

Because it is all ramps; strollers, wheel chairs
and motorized carts do not have any problem navigating.
There is also an elevator for the descent, which we were glad to find as we were exhausted by that time!!  Nice to be able to look up from time to time.

Cages for smaller animals.

LoLooking up through the center to the openings for natural sky light.

Oil lamps used
throughout.

They had a 45 minute concert after the
 ARK tour.  It was good!!

We also ate a great buffet dinner while in the park.
Friday, October 17th,  we left and moved on to Lewisburg, Tennessee to meet with friends, Lou and Sandy, who we met last year at the SKP Resort in Wauchula.  That night we stayed in Walmart parking lot. During the day we drove on out to their house for a visit -

and later drove into Columbia, TN with them to eat at Bucket's Rest.  It was unbelievable food and a great get acquainted time!!  It was awesome and the restaurant was very busy.  We left just before the music began.  We will have to go back there on our next trip through Tennessee!!
Sandy and Lou, great time getting acquainted!!

We went to Parkway Baptist Church there in Lewisburg on Sunday and later in the day went back out to Lou and Sandy's for steak dinner.  They were so good to us!!  We did not wait too late to get back to the motorhome because of the winding roads back in to town!!  Gary was also glad that we stayed at Walmart even though Lou had invited us to park at their place.  He would not have been comfortable driving the motorhome on the winding road, especially the one hairpin turn.
Our next stop was Florence, Alabama to visit with Gary's nephew and his wife,  Michael and Cindy.  We have been looking forward to that!!  So stay tuned.
