Our History

Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

VISITING WITH BUSHNELL FLORIDA FRIENDS

While at Sumter Oaks RV Park in Bushnell, we attended First Baptist Church at Center Hill to hear our friend, Lee, preach the sermon on Sunday, October 27th.  Lee was one of our Sunday School teachers at Bushnell First Baptist from 2008 when we first stayed in Florida.  He has since been ordained and moves from church to church as needed ministering to many Floridians.
Since our last stay in Bushnell, he and his wife, Karen have retired and also moved farther out of town.

When they found out that our stay was only going to last a week, they invited us out to see their "new" home.  They sure made it new with all of the upgrading and changes that they made!! Lee and Karen, you sure have a lovely home as well as lovely grounds with enough acres to keep you busy!!  Lee rents out some of the land to a local farmer for the hay and he mows the rest for lawn.
Awesome bush, though don't know what it is.

Unusual bush, with branches wrapped with little berry clusters.
Love the Spanish Moss draped  Live Oaks!

Lee then took us on to his buildings that house all of his automobile and restoration projects.  I don't think that he realized that I would be as interested as Gary.
An old Weber wagon, but I don't remember the year.
He said that he moved it on a U-haul when he bought it.

Another project in progress and Gary checked out an
old Falcon with parts lying all around.
Main finished project that they kept and moved.
It is Karen's 1966 Cutlass convertible
that she would not part with.

The home and landscaping is absolutely lovely!!  It's the first time in the eleven years that we have been on the road that I have wished that we were in a home again!!  But there is no way that we will ever take on that kind of work again.
After our grand tour, we decided to go out to a local mom and pop restaurant for seafood.  Many times before we have gone to Moe's next door to this seafood place, but did not know that Catfish Johnny's was by far more popular.

Thank you Lee and Karen, Great choice!!
It was great to have a lovely visit and to catch up on our activities.  Lee did share with us about his four year battle with cancer before 2008. He said that the chemo was by far the worst!!  God sure is not through with him yet!!
Stay tuned for the next Blog for November 1st.
