Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

VISIT THE GREAT AND GREAT-GREAT'S near PORT CHARLOTTE

Gary just emptied the blue tank and lost a pin from the handle. So will hurry with this Blog so that I can ride along when he goes to the hardware.  The only places that I drive is in to Zolfo Springs for Dollar General and the Post Office, and over to Sebring mostly for things along Rt 27.  Guess I am just feeling my age.
Yesterday, January 31st,  we drove down to my great niece's to visit. Wow, have the kids sure grown since we visit them last. I need to get in to the pictures to see when that was. It was a great time and the kids fixed dinner for all of us. Oh yes, forgot to mention that the two families have ten kids between them!!
Back view of the houses.

New bridge built by Jeff since we visited last.
One family has had many major issues with health over the past year, both Amanda and her son, Aiden.  Her husband, Michael, has also had several job changes.  He attributes this last job a "God" thing.  He feels very blessed!!
The bridge is a new addition after they leveled a lot of the land. Last time they used a ladder stretched out across to try to get an alligator count.  They knew that they needed to have them taken away. When I asked if they still had the alligators, she said, "Just babies".
Becky's husband, Jeff, sure was a help with my new Android phone.  Oh yes, I forgot to mention that the old one was run over by a car.  It sure bit the dust then!!  Gary thinks that he was the culprit after I dropped it when he dropped me off for my TOPS meeting.
Anyway, right after that meeting we stopped at an AT&T store that we passed and were blessed with a good salesman!!  He wasn't even scheduled to work that day, but had asked to as he only needed one more sale to meet his top bonus goal. So we sure helped each other.  Of course, we bought the bottom priced one. I just need to stop in Thrift stores now to find a rubber case for it.
Richard and Lynn, you will appreciate these pictures. They are new additions to the families since we visited last.

Jeff has been the handyman who built the
chicken house.  I loved the style!!

Isn't this a beauty? I can't remember what
kind the kids said it was.

This little one is known as their miracle child,
who was born after they had decided not to
have any more of their own .
They had just adopted two children!!

Many genetic issues made them re-think the prospect of having any more children of their own. Thus they had decided to adopt from Ethiopia.  Later, the second family decided to enlarge their family of four by adopting two from Ethiopia also.  The children are all charming and since they are home schooled, they are very knowledgeable!!
The oldest daughter of this second family mentioned, is very interested in art and loves sharing with Gary. Since we saw her last she has illustrated a child's book for an author in Georgia. The interesting thing about these illustrations is that the child in he story progresses in age throughout and Kaelyn does her drawings accordingly.  She has a new book that she is beginning illustration work on also.

Kaelyn was probably mastering the
dinner for our evening, thus
the apron.
The youngsters, eating dinner out on the patio, after
making a tent out of the table and chairs.

Amanda, mom with the major
health issues.  She is recovering,
but has many issues to keep working on.

And son, Aiden, who had major surgery
for his eye this year. He has done well!!

View of the pool looking out from their living room!!
I love the plants!!

Mierya

I have to look back in our Blog books
to find this gal's name.  They are unusual,
so difficult to remember.
Jeff made this for his wife.
I loved it and thought our Richard and Lynn too.

Before our visit was over, we got a phone call from our son, Victor.  This was the result of someone going east on Rt 224 in Ohio and turning into Giant Eagle in front of Victor who was west bound.  No one hurt, praise God.  There were three cars involved. Not sure that I understood how this red car was involved or why.

Guess, I need to cut this off and join Gary so that he can get his errand run.  Take care and keep warm!!
