Ready to Roll

Our History

My photo
Ohio, United States
Having recently retired we are fulfilling our long time dream. We began our camping life with a tent in 1969 adjusting as each of our three sons arrived over the years and gradually progressed to a 32' Class A in 2007. Even after our sons became too busy with their own interests, we continued dreaming over the years. The Louisville, KY 2003 Great North American RV Rally and the book "Movin' On" convinced us that a motorhome after retirement was really for us! In 2007 we sold our home and disposed of most of our belongings and awaited the wife's retirement on February 1, 2008. We were out in our first motorhome ten times in our first summer in 2007, with our grandson joining us eight of those ten times. Since he must stay behind with his mom and dad to continue school, we told him he can join us on vacations (by car or plane) anywhere we are as we travel the US. Imagine the history lessons he could acquire! However, Mom and Dad don't look at it that way, especially the flying. Fortunately we don't miss work one bit!! We just miss the friends there. We have many hobbies to keep us busy when we decide to sit still for a day. Hope to see you on the road.

MORE THANKSGIVING AND VISITING OHIO FRIENDS

I am sitting here at the computer by myself!! So I have downloaded pictures and will do a Blog while Gary is at his Genealogy workshop here in the Resort. I slept in until 9: so time to get busy. I think that we are both feeling better today. We've had too much on our minds to sleep well for several days. So happy to feel more like normal.
In looking back on what I have posted, I see that I missed our Thanksgiving dinner here in the Resort on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

We were one of the first at the table, and did not know
any of these people. So it was nice getting acquainted.

They did have the floor open for dance after dinner.
Did we dance? Not!! Not Gary's thing.
It was a very good dinner and nice opportunity to meet more people. Then on Thanksgiving Day we went to the American Legion for dinner.

So I have not cooked a turkey dinner until this past Saturday. I just had to have some turkey and dressing left overs!! The day I did that I was really wiped out after, with all of the cleaning up. Guess I just am not keeping in practice. I don't remember being that tired doing it in the condo for the whole family!!
Our next outing was a trip to just west of Phoenix where our Salem, Ohio friends, Bill and Jane, are staying this winter. They are workamping and loving it there. I do think that we would like that resort as well as here at Mesa Regal.
Bill met us at the gate to get us back to their fifth wheel, and it was probably a good thing as the streets were not laid out on a grid like it is here at Mesa Regal. And they have golf course here and there through their resort so it gives them a nice green effect!!

Jane, Gary and Bill
We had an awesome visit!!
Jane says that she has to make an appointment with her dentist here in Mesa, so maybe they will stop and visit when over here.  She also called the other day and told us that we have reservations here in Appache Junction for twelve couples at the Opry Christmas Program and dinner on the 13th. We are very much looking forward to that!!
While there they took us out for a drive to show us where Luke Air Force Base is located
and where there are fields of roses. This is sure rose growing area and vegetables as well, such as cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, etc.

Rick, we saw this in a thrift shop and thought of you!! We've not done as much thrift shopping here as we usually do. They do not seem to be on every street corner. I miss it!!
Gary had been keeping very busy doing his color pencil in addition to his other interests. He is almost finished with a duck drawing so I will show it to you next Blog probably.

The last thing that we have done is take a drive through our resort last evening after it had turned dark. I am sure that next weekend will be even better as I would say that only half of the people have their decorations out. I will put those pictures in a separate Blog though.
Not much else in news here so will wrap this up and share again soon.
Take care and God Bless!!
